Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Training Ground?

Every preseason I see Dees players running around Caulfield Park which is a stones throw from the Racecourse. Many of the players live in the surrounding suburbs. It would be massive for the players not to have to drive over an hour to get to training.

.....and back.

And when you lose two finals matches by a total of 9 points, that could well have been the difference, more so when it is spread across the pre-season and season proper.  It adds up to dozens of hours not spent in the gym, physio or on the track that other sides are able to use to prepare their players for the best opportunity.

Could i jst point out the following :

1.  The MRC dont own Caulfield, they lease the facilities from the Trust at a low amount.

2.  We are not building a social club nor a practice match or match facility but an elite training and admin facility under the one 'roof'.

3.  In the words of Roffey 'we received funding...' - does anyone know from whom?

4.  ah bugger I have forgotten

5.  My opinoins are not biased by the fact that I live within a 10 minute walk, not at all

Melbourne is now the largest city in Australia. Any land available of the size we need is either way out in the suburbs or nowhere near public transport. Yes, the ideal sitaution would be a home base at the MCG, but it's just not feasible in the real world.

IMO Caulfield is a fantastic option.

As far as transport goes, obviously Caufield station is right there, 6 stops from Richmond. In the long-term future, a proposal exists for a trackless tram connecting Caulfield to Rowville via Chadstone and Monash Clayton. The first part of the suburban rail loop to open will be the SRL East, which links into the Frankston, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.

Isn't trackless tram just a fancy word for bus?

I'll wait for our training facilities to be completed for us when I wait for the airport rail to come in, the roadworks to be finished in melbourne and the rail loop to be completed. They alll feel many many years away.

It's a disgrace the oldest club has never had a proper training facility.

Clearly MFC boards up until now haven’t had it as their #1 priority. It’s simply been an issue they’ve kicked further down the road.

And brand spanking new facilities at Casey....

Quite right deva, at least Casey is more contemporary and fit for purpose than our base at Gosch’s.

Which was kinda the point I was raising. Our main training facility compared to most other teams is well below standard (and will remain so until late this decade at the earliest).

The glass house Olympic park was offered around 20yrs to the club but was rejected by either Gutnick ,Sznody, Gardner era as we couldn’t afford it,  unfortunately when the club was continuously in survival mode & broke its hard to plan ahead ..you look at the junction oval now and say why wasn’t that explored even the saints couldn’t make it work. The fact that Daniher had to work out of portables & players had the worst training facilities and using cones as goals in preseason is amazing that he’s sides played in finals plus a GF! The fact it’s 2024 and we still get get kicked off AAMI due to functions etc inc the women’s WC is a joke, so if Caulfield is the answer go for it

I stand to be corrected but the area of we’re the filth (pies) who are rubbing it in our faces took it whilst we were rattling cans to survive and 20yrs later we are split to 3 areas with a training ground almost 60 mins away.. Winning the flag in 21 shows how great it was compared to what the other 17 clubs have to deal with!

Have you ever done the walk up to the Hellfire Club, PSD? I loved all of the stories about the place. I went up there once on a walk to Massy's Woods.

Yes did it a few times, remember one time I did it in December with deep snow when I was a kid, nearly ended up with hypothermia. Few hours in front of the fireplace when I got home to thaw out

In fairness.. we've had a number of false starts.

I get it, but there's no need to bang on about it over multiple posts as if to say this one is going to be another disaster that comes to nothing.

It might, it might not, but let's at least give the team that has put the club into one of the best states I've ever seen it in a chance, before we all start with the MFCSS.

Why do people care about the distance from them? By the time we’ve settled on a location and the facility is complete, you’ll be able to just beam yourself directly there.

Sadly I think by the time this gets to fruition, many of us will be looking down from a great height playing a harp, or trying to suss out what is going on in a very hot place avoiding magma pools.

SRL is a  PIPE DREAM Wont last beyond the next election in my view There are better projects t improve connectivity in melbourne

I’m thinking 2028, another reason to hang in there, 50th wedding anniversary, 83rd birthday, two more premierships and our own elite training and fitness facility. That would be the icing on the cake. Get on board you doubting Thomas’s just make it happen.

Just endless talkfests. If not a gov hurdle then a local environmental pressure group or resident action group  will block any  MFC proposal.

Essendon has a nice setup at Tulla.

Lets share it .   LOL

Not a bad idea considering we spend more time than any other Vic club travelling interstate.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 09 vs Carlton

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again headlining another blockbuster at the MCG to kick off the round of footy. The Dees take on the Blues and have the opportunity to win their third game on the trot to solidify a spot in the Top 4 in addition to handing the Blues their third consecutive defeat to bundle them out of the Top 8.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
