Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think Caulfield racecourse is crown land, whereas Flemington and Mooney are owned by the racing clubs.

The private entities may be easier to deal with!

Forget Mooney Valley, not a hope in hell, as every inch has been utilised in the new development.

IMO the VRC wouldn’t consider it.

Yes Caulfield is Crown land administered by a trust, that I once was willing to be involved with after some discussions, but it came to nothing.

The community mixed use would be the pillar to get it done at Caulfield and there is stacks of available space for everyone to be happy.

Caulfield is the solution for us. Ticks all the boxes. As long as we satisfy the community use conditions there is no reason why we can't make this work.

I hope Kate Roffey is working overtime on this.

Flemington Racecourse is on Crown land.

There are pockets within the boundary that were owned by the VRC, but by and large, they have been sold to developers for high rise apartments or high density, overpriced housing

With the austerity mindset from governments at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if any headway made previously is now redundant. Unless it's solely public infrastructure, I can't imagine they'll be able to sell it to their constituents.

Geelong is a marginal seat though. It's become effectively a bipartisan pork barrel.

With the disappointing cancellation of the Commonwealth Games in Country Victoria (I hope someone else can do them?), I actually think the development of Caulfield Racecourse into a Melbourne Home Base is more likely now.

Why? Because the Victorian Government still has unallocated funds that would of gone to build infrastructure/stadiums etc for the Commonwealth Games. They just didn't expect a massive blowout of $6 or $7 billion. Nevertheless, the Victorian Government should still have about $1 or $2 billion spare? Anyway, I am only speculating. So we shall have to wait and see.

Strangely enough a similar thought popped among my little grey cells.

I'm still reeling with embarassment tbh...atm

A little snippet from the Commonwealth games fiasco. The article is about the infamous temporary swimming pool but it has this gem...

The original plan was for the swimming to be held at an existing aquatic centre at Kardinia Park. This is why, on March 1, 2022, Dame Louise Martin and Katie Sadleir from the Commonwealth Games Federation, Ben Houston and Craig Phillips from Commonwealth Games Australia and Visit Victoria chief Brendan McClements – the person who had pitched Victoria’s bid three months earlier – travelled to Geelong with senior government bureaucrats to tour that site.

This is the plan the City of Greater Geelong council supported. At the time, Games planners had a new gymnastics venue pencilled in next to the pool. This would have established Kardinia Park as a central Games precinct and, after the event, given the neighbouring Geelong Football Club access to a high-roofed, indoor training centre for use on wet days.

You do realize the Vic gov is  170 billion in the hole

There wont be a spare  1 to 2 dollars let alone 1to2 billion

the whole exercise was cynical politics by Dan who will probably exit at Xmas time

I've mentioned Camberwell before but pretty sure this site wasn't in the picture.

I assume we've searched far & wide in these parts...

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
