Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Apparently has 'received interest' from the Dees:

Status: Restricted free agent at the end of 2019.

State of play: Ellis is facing a $500,000 sacrifice over the life of his next contract if he’s to remain at Richmond, the club that recruited him with Pick 15 in 2011. While the premiership defender has played 16 matches this season there are still question marks over his toughness. The restricted free agent has received interest from Essendon, Carlton, North Melbourne and Melbourne. According to the Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph, Ellis would receive no more than $400,000 per season if he remained at Punt Road.

Likely scenario: The 25-year-old could foreseeably be forced out. There aren’t many free agents floating around this year, and therefore, Ellis is likely to receive a substantial offer from a rival club.

Looked like being a player but this & the ability to handle a tight checking opponent caught up with him.

Damaging if allowed to play on his terms but that doesn't happen these days.

His biggest issue is that he'll find the ball but mostly bomb it high and long, my brother in law is a big tigers fans fan and when he was in and out of the side last year kept saying he could be one of the most damaging players in the league if he knew how to lower his eyes. He's been a fair bit better this year, but this issue still holds him back from being elite. While some have had the same opinion with Ed Langdon, clearly we're in the market for wingers who run all day, so that's why were linked. Being a free agent is handy as well.

Should replace Jones beautifully then.

This is unfair, Jones is one of few in our team that lowers his eyes and hits up targets in the corridor.

I absolutely disagree chookrat, anyway perhaps I should have used an emoji. Enjoy your day mate

Was a very strong contributor to their premiership- plays with pace, intensity and aggression.  Has fallen away in the last 18 months, but would gladly take him.

Ellis fills our need for outside run and is a free agent. As much as Brad Hill is a much better player, the smarter play would be to keep our picks and target Ellis. Langdon is a younger version of Ellis, but would cost a draft pick. in terms of priority I prefer Ellis, Hill then Langdon.

Jones is rated as the best field kick in our team.

Viney is rated as the worst kick inside 50 in the league.

Staggering how differently the two are perceived on Demonland.

Personally I feel like we need a change in leadership anyway, Jones is nearing the end and if he has one more season then its the perfect time to hand over the reigns and I agree re Viney, hes never been a good kick. I wonder what it does to players' mindsets seeing leaders butcher it. Anyhow I'd get Ellis, even for depth and I'd look into Tigers' list to stock ours up also. I thought we'd have a crack at Townsend for a goal sneak but unsure why we didn't.

Yeah, absolutely agree with that mate. Can't imagine how frustrating it would be for our players to see the co-captain, Goody's pet (according to player interviews) continually defy instructions by bombing it long every game with no consequence.

Ellis was a damaging player a few years ago when zones defenses were all the rage and there was more space to work with.

6-6-6 has made the game more one on one and slower, and negated his natural game as there’s usually now a man right on him now. He doesn’t suit the current rules and gamestyles , but if zones made a comeback he’d flourish again.

Definitely worth interest if the price isn’t too high. Provides run and pace.

Ellis and Newnes are not bad free agent options. Obviously Hill and Langdon are better options but will cost picks/players. I would not be surprised to see us end up with 2 of the aforementioned 4. That would balance our team up very nicely.

I'd also be going hard at Papley as a fwd/mid.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
