Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Umpires hate Melbourne

Either the umpires hate Melbourne or there is cheating going on, we have been shafted most games this year and last year, even at the mcg in our home games, how can they keep getting away with it?

Until we are ladder leaders, consistently, drawing very large crowds, regularly, and dominating onfield for 100 minutes, no green snot goblin is going to allow us to play football without their little (and costly) power trips punctuating an 'evening-up' for the sake of the spectacle. What the Eagles got away with relative to the Dees in the game last night was mostly unfair and slanted. By three-quarter time, the game should have already been over in the Dees' favour - but the Perth crowd beyed for more and so  the umpires gave. Nearly 100% of that crowd left the ground happy with what the AFL had presented to them. There will be no second thoughts.

Human nature. You are working in Perth, everyone you meet excluding Freo people want WC to win. You get to the ground and 50,000 people cheer your every good decision in their favour and jeer every one against. And then one side is Premiers and another is, well, you know. Who do you think will get the best deal.

The last quarter in particular there were a few non-calls but kicking 9.15 - I'm not blaming the umps.

I don't think anyone is downplaying the kicking which gave the WCE a chance.  But it's hard not to believe that with better umpiring in Q4, we may have won nevertheless (assuming we kicked straight from the 50m penalty, the unrealistic mark, the sling tackle etc etc)

I've been noting the impressive body of work of Dean Margetts for some time now and I thought he was just terrific last night. With almost cat-like reflexes he saw an opportunity to halt Melbourne's momentum (yes, we weren't helping ourselves) and he did so with bewitching guile. Couldn't blow the whistle fast enough  to give WC the advantage. It wasn't just the free kicks paid to West Coke, it was the missed throws and blocks, and, by the end, an absolute failure to show any impartiality whatsoever. He may as well have put on a WC Guernsey and punched the sky when the final siren sounded.

Is the AFL so tight arsed that it can't, in a National competition, use an umpire who didn't grow up barracking for the team he's officiating (and by officiating I mean kissing on the dock).

Razor Ray may be a [censored] but he's an impartial one. Actually, take that back and leave it at '[censored]'.

It's not in the AFL's interest to ensure the game is umpired fairly to offer an even competition RTG.  It is now a very big business and the AFL are out to ensure their brand is being grown and protected in the preferred manner / direction required to maximise profits.  The Eagles are no doubt high on their brand priority list.  We are probably sitting somewhere in their bottom four.

Despite the one eyed parochialism of the crowd I heard at least two “he threw it” comments  from WC fans behind me when Darling threw it and they got the goal that buried us. We were 150 metres away and I saw it and all the WC supporters saw it. But no umpires did and there were three of them a lot closer.

Watching Cats v Dogs. Tuohy just kicked in from FB. Didn’t play on. OOB without being touched. Nobody even near it .....THROW IN! That sums up the competency of umpiring at the moment.

Deliverance Park is probably the only other ground that comes close in providing blatant partiality.

Below is an extract from a petition being promoted by Freo supporters regarding the local "derby".

Enough is Enough!

Fremantle Dockers supporters have long known the umpiring bias displayed by the terrible 2, Margetts & Daglish at every WA AFL derby. Both self proclaimed West Coast Eagles fans and both having no shame in socialising and publicly displaying their love for the West Coast Eagles, why does the Fremantle Football Club and the AFL continue to allow this ongoing and disgraceful umpiring bias derby after derby?

Sunday 29 April was one of the most disgusting displays of blatant and bias umpiring ever witnessed in a professional game of AFL. It was the tipping point for all Dockers fans and this is their call to action.

All Dockers fans respectfully request that both Dean Margetts and Jeff Daglish are no longer allocated to umpire the Western derby games. Dockers fans will even go as far as to commit to paying a $1 umpiring tax on their tickets for all derby games, in order for the AFL to fly and accommodate a neutral umpiring team that are no way conflicted. We cannot accept or allow conflicted umpires who publicly support an AFL team, to regularly officiate and make decisions that have many times changed the momentum of games to their team, the West Coast Eagles advantage.

ENOUGH is ENOUGH, no more Margetts and no more Daglish for WA AFL derby games pleas

Dworship we should do the same ....D'land petition to both the club and the AFL requesting that these two cheats are removed from ever umpiring a game involving the Eagles.

In every job I've ever had, the policy on conflict of interest has been clear, that is; it's prohibited or you must excuse yourself. This is true even if it is only a potential conflict. I'm sure the 2 Umpires in question (and supported by the AFL) would say they have integrity so there isn't any problem. Then again the AFL is run by a Dill.

I heard that there was two local WA umpires in control of the game...  if thas was correct,  surely the AFL should change this ratio... 2 out of 3,  IS  bad.

I would hope that Only one local umpire should be used, for interstate matches.

There is a reason International Cricket now has a NO local umpire on the field rule.

Gee if we are all going to be honest lets admit we have all hated this club at times.

The are the annoying little brother you love that often dissappoints.

I do believe we will win several flags in the next decade but  until then I reserve the right to dump on them.

The simple fact is umpires are prone to be influenced by larger cr o wd support discrepancies.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
