Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I still think of JT as a Collingwood product, but he's now spent at least twice as long with us than he did with them. But I recall him coming to MFC as highly-credentialed. What was it he did before us to earn that reputation? Or do I have my facts wrong?

Dwayne Beams and Sidebottom were amongst some of his selections in the 2010 premiership side.

Thank you for the link to the podcast. It was most enlightening.

Jason Taylor also mentioned he is contracted to the Demons for at least another 4 years. So that's a positive! 🙂

I get the impression from Jason Taylor that he wants to stay at the Club for the long haul and build a Demons Dynasty. He is certainly not satisfied with just one Premiership for the Melbourne Football Club.

Thanks Superdemon and Redsoxman,

I really enjoyed it. Our recruiting with JT is in great hands.

I love that JT states his emphasis is on Character/competiveness/resilience. He takes into account positional needs (say coaching staff) but Best available overrides.

He comments on choosing the wrong people against a good character. He quotes Chris Judd (I think) "less impressed with talent"

I would love to take a chance on Syd Stack but I suspect it won't happen.

Our List management committee is in good hands

Jason Taylor will be on afl.com tomorrow at 12:30. I won’t be able to listen, but I’m sure someone here will catch it and share what they hear :)

Anyone catch JT on afl.com interview today and able to share what he said?

All I can see if a small clip talking about key position needs could be targeted at either pick.

Didn't miss much to he honest. Only other thing of note was he pretty much said we won't be able to trade into the top 5-6.

Jason and the team are sensational. More credit needs to applied to Tim Lamb- what a stright shooter- never waivers from getting the job done.

I've never fully understood who actually does the player and pick trading. I think most of us gave Mahoney the credit for it in his time at MFC but is that right was it Tim Lamb doing the negotiating even then. In fact is it Tim Lamb doing it now. I assume JT and team go out and find the talent and then it's over to TL and team to negotiate. Anyone know how it works.

Your idea actually has merit when considering all the data available.

We could have done a lor better during that horror draft period by simply drawing names out of a hat.  Such are the vagaries of drafting

You should read up on the history of drafting in baseball ... a complete [censored]-shoot although Houston lucked out by drafting 3 guns in 3 consecutive years after tanking 3 years in a row.

The luck factor in drafting cannot be overplayed enough.  It is an inexact science and most probably always will be.

But belief systems are belief systems so my words are only directed at 15% of the draft believers.  Most others have bought in and are therefore all-in

Just like your good self RR.

Good to have you back but on this occasion we'll have to agree at disagree.

fair points but Taylor only had a few chances at the really high picks early on and nailed Petracca, Brayshaw, Oliver and missed with the Weid. Then nailed Jackson with a pick 3 and pickett pick 12. if he misses a couple maybe even 1 of those we dont have a premiership.

Lamb was a talent spotter under JT, I’m sure it’s a collaborative effort to value future picks and trade players, but then JT is ultimately in charge of the draft board. I hope they’re collaborating with analytics, coaches, factoring in the salary cap and so on.

From what I’ve seen of nfl draft rooms (which is where the afl usually borrows from) teams usually have multiple people set up with phones allocated to various teams. And they’ll try to use previous relationships if possible. But it highlights why teams often have to have deals lined up before the draft, there’s a lot of chaos on the night.

You can catch it all on the afl exchange podcast feed.

Talked about needs v best available. Seemed to be weighing needs quite a bit, but more so at later picks.

Confident they’ll be a good player at 37.

Has a possible great result at pick 13 and another good result based on their scenarios. Seemed to be that was if using the pick rather than trading.

Didn’t deny key forward was a need. But I get the feeling tall back, ruck and possibly inside 50 kicker might be seen as needs just as much.

The JT second drafts like Riv JJ Tommy Sparrow Plus Bowey as a late 1st rounder and JVR are all good as well

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
