We’ve gone backwards and are bottom four material. Two goals in a half isn’t good enough.

We just aren’t up to it and are a comedy to watch.

I'm ignoring this thread as I can't watch the game, I'm only going by stats.

Could someone who is sound of mind give me, and others in the same boat, a brief run down of the half.  It seems like we're having a dip but running into the same problems.

Richmond get an inside 50 and if they get a point or intercept mark me go long down the line every time, they get the ball back. Rinse and repeat.

Worst skilled side in the AFL.

Effort has been fine.

Game plan putrid.

Refuse to switch.

They have no idea what they are doing.

Evert kick is to a pack.

Putrid football.

U watch last week? Same as that except Richmond arent fully switched on. Otherwide it would be 6+ goals.

At least tonight isnt raining. Goodwin has no idea how to adapt to a live plan.

They are a bunch of crazy chooks without any heads.

No system at all.

Don't get me started on Gartlett.

We get sucked into the contest like seagulls and their is always tigers waiting for easy clearances it is really dumb football in slippery conditions

What is with the continuous dependance on playing down the members wing [censored] me drunk.

We are clueless a mess.

Our effort and pressure is good.

Skills for both sides have been bad very fumbly and a lot of hack kicks forward due to the pressure.

We refuse to switch the play, constantly going down the line to contests where we are outmsnned and /or outsized

Richmond have kicked 2 goals off the deck due to 3 defenders going for the ball. Same old story.

Richmond have killed us in the centre clearances 7-2. Martin killed us out if the middle that quarter. Oscar has been very good, Lever serviceable in defence.

I saw enough.  I figured the same issues from last week have been rearing their ugly heads again.

Has our defence been any better?

We've had 3 up and then 4 up.

I'm going to watch this one out to see if we can get 5 defenders to fly for a ball

We are dumb, just dumb.

And yet some refuse to blame the coach. We have to be the dumbest side going around. We kick to 3-1, we all go up in contests while they crumb goals out the back. We panic. We over handball. We are lost.

What has happened to this team? We have gone so far backwards it’s frightening. Not one winner tonight except Oscar who has been solid all year.

Can always rely on you for an honest, balanced assessment, Doc.  Cheers.

The centre clearances are a real issue as it looks as though Gawn is dominating in the ruck and we are not taking advantage of that at all.  Going simply by stats it also looks like Harmes, ANB, Brayshaw etc are giving us next to nothing at the moment which just isn't good enough.

Hopefully something clicks and we turn the corner in the second half.

What run we had from the backline has evaporated. No run in the midfield. Too many in the contest as opposed to at the contest. Getting towelled in the middle. No forward coming TO the ball.

Finger in the dyke stuff this. Second half could get ugly

And this kick down the line stuff is (shudder) Neeld-esque

The whole situation is just baffling to me. As everyone else has said, we've gone backwards at light speed. What the [censored] has gone wrong with this club in the off-season? If we keep this up, we'll be lucky to get out of the bottom 6.

Defensively we are doing okay but structurally everywhere else it's actually worse than last week.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
