TRAINING: Tuesday 14th April 2026
This was rather unexpected and he doesnt do that much media. I wonder what this is all about.

I am starting to see this translate on field. The number of passes Kozzy and Trelly do by foot is astronomically more than previous seasons. It comes off a fair bit of the time as well.

PREGAME: Rd 06 vs Brisbane
My (not so helpful) 2 cents... Essendon's kicking games picked us apart. Brisbane's kicking game >>>>> Essendon's kicking game. If we do not pressure the contest and allow the ball to easily get on the outside, we are going to get absolutely smashed. There are too many possible changes to predict so the injuries are what ill stick to for now. I'd put Tholstrup on Zorko or Wilmot, to negate defensive transistion as we will put up lots of turnovers. If Melksham pulls up well, a defensive role on Andrews. Midfield wise we are heavily outgunned - which has me worried. Ashcroft bro's, Neale and McCluggage that is an all-star midfield. Neale is their ball winner so obviously Steele goes to him to negate him as much as possible. I wonder if we bring in Culley or Spaz to also try a defensive setup around the contest. If we can keep the loss to under 40 points i'd be happy to move on to Round 6.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
the one thing we have going is that pundits in the media (ex players and coaches and the like) seem to have wraps on our youth.... so they obviously see something there that we obviously dont.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
So im clearly not the only one with this thinking. I have always maintained a jet player, will show snippets of wizardry albeit inconsistent. Tholstrup becoming a tagger, is the part that pretty much tells you that he needs a well defined role. Great for development, but shows lack of instinct. Windsor as i said athletically gifted...iffy skill level, but he doesnt get near it enough. he should watch Daicos play and understand how to play the outside role. Still, i think (hope) he can learn the role a bit more, because i dont think he has learnt how to play HB. Anyone know what he was as a junior? Lindsay, I really dont know what to make of him yet. Havent watched him closely enough, but he is not standing out as a HB. Is he filling in McVee or Rivers role i wonder? Langford. Just looks a little too casual and lacks intensity and mongrel. For a bloke his size, i'd expect him to be more imposing, but maybe its confidence?

2026 Possible Targets/Player Movement
We just have to go back to Round 1. When the ball movement is good enough our forwards are decent players. Who would have thought JVR could kick 6 goals. Since then, our ball movement has been stiffled and they look like a packet of chips. They are good enough - nothing to cry home about, but are serviceable. Most forwards these days are only as good as their midfield / ball movement allows them to be. There obviously is the exception to that rule, but its not the norm.

2026 Possible Targets/Player Movement
We need Butters. He'll bridge the gap between young and old; inside and outside. Players like Langford, Windsor et al will learn alot from him attack on the ball and 2 way running. Will immediately upgrade our midfield from C-D grade to A-B grade. Kozzy, Butters and one of Steele, Windsor, Langford, Rivers, Viney and Sparrow with Gawn is a prospect to be reckoned with. Forwards are good enough - i dont think we will ever get a KPF again.. Defence is good enough too.

POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
I know there are a few posters on here that have/had invovlement in footy at various levels (especially Jnr footy). My question goes to them. How worried should we be regarding our 1-3 year players? I know these kids take time, but i am not liking what im seeing at all from our 2-3 year players so far. Im not sure what to expect - if anything - but from our top 10 picks over the last few years, im worried that we have picked up a few average 100-150 gamers that we may end up delisting in the 5-7 years time. Its a super harsh take - i know - but was expecting a lot from Windsor. He does show snippets - ill admit that - but its few and far between. He looks like a player, being played in a position he is not familiar with. Cant get the ball enough and goes missing a lot. His disposal by foot is also iffy. So far he just looks like he has jets but doesnt know how to use them... J.Hunt v2.0. Langford, has the build of an insider player, but shirks contests. Is he afraid of going at the ball? Maybe its the instruction, but he seems to lack the mongrel needed to get to the next level. Would be a waste - a player with his physique being moved to the outside / wing. I mean this with full respect, but these questions need to be asked. I am more than happy enough to lose games - i have zero expectations this year other than seeing our youth start to blossom. What im left with is the prospect of us being the new Essendon with a whole bunch of first rounders that amass to a failed rebuild.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs Essendon
Scrappy . We let Bombers dictate play there. Our midfield beyond Steele and Kozzy is incredibly lacking. Windsor, Langford, Sparrow are really letting the team down and need to get into the game.

NON-MFC: Round 5
Was never a big loss. Folks on here thought he was the second coming. He looks to have embraced the rebounding half back role …. oh wait that was Clark.
