Melbourne player investigated over alleged assault whilst overseas

The wonman did not tell bail police about this it is smart the player is now going to be guilty without his day in court, the matter should be dropped unless she does press chargers in bail, otherwise the AFL can not investigate, they are not a law in court.

Another act of treachery by Bail Justices.

You might get a clue if there is a player with a mysterious injury for several weeks at the start of the season.

It would not surprise me in the slightest.

Once it was a groin injury, chronic fatigue or depression. Now that this story is out the club has to get more creative.

It would surprise me...

If there are no charges then there is nothing the club should or needs to do, creative or otherwise.

Move on...

I agree, but that's not my point.

The AFL may want the "victim" to see that it has provided some form of justice, and that would not surprise me one bit.

well they didn't with milne. iirc. but i suppose that was quite some time ago and things have changed. still, they would need to have some good info/facts to do that and go public

Have we heard anything from the club? Surely this cannot drag on for months without anything happening.

What exactly is dragging on..?

It's done and will go no further.

I have heard that the investigation has been completed and that nothing more will be heard about it... why the nd have indicated they will not speak publicly.

Ok, so this sucks.  The player, the club and supporters all caught in some weird limbo.

No formal complaint has been made, or charge laid.

You Can not prove your innocence (or defend your actions) for something you haven’t been properly accused of.  And now it’s ‘closed’?

it would have been a pretty crappy Christmas for that individual player

At what point is this all formally closed, or does it remain open indefinitely?

it was important enough to be reported in all the papers.  Be nice if it has been ‘closed’ for some statement so this is not left hanging

I reckon the supporters are the only ones in limbo.  I am sure that the club and the player know exactly what is going on.

Not sure if it is closed. But also can't see how any statement can be made that hasn't so far, short of the woman involved releasing a statement, which is highly unlikely. The police can only say there has been no formal complaint, which they have. I guess, until a complaint is made and this blows up again, that's that.

I think a few people here are remarkably confident that no incident ever happened, and quite possibly that no actual woman ever existed, either.

I get the views from both sides, but what’s remains is the club released a statement when this first came to the public’s attention a few weeks back, since then nothing. If there is no complaint/investigation/pending charges where is the follow up statement from the club.

the club flick-passed it to the afl. if there is a follow up it should first come from the afl. it could be that all parties plus the afl and club feel that the matter is closed and no ongoing publicity (i.e. communication) is the best solution in the circumstances and the media has agreed..........there again...........................

Without knowing anything about the case. It's always the girls' fault for the way she dresses and behaves-on that I'm sure we all agree.

Wonder what the relationship between the Club and the AFL is at the moment?

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
