So....

As my wife and I fought our way through IKEA this afternoon with 2x cranky two year olds I was checking the scores every minute or two. The battle we faced dealing with lollygaggers, rubberneckers and just plain [censored] stupid people in the claustrophobic throng was nothing like the enjoyable Scandinavian utopia I was hoping for.

Judging by the score line, our anguished shopping outing seemed synonymous with whatever was happening at the G today.

Next scorecheck, we were kicking away (so I thought) to a four goal plus lead. By the time I got home they had it back to 7 points. I couldn't do it and turned off my phone. When I turned it back on, a dramatic message from a mate describing the shitfullness of the game made me think we'd lost. To much relief, a final scorecheck said otherwise.

bloody hell, I'm totally drained!

The burning question is watch the replay or not?

Please cast your votes here....

Worried about our bottom handful of players. Wagner, Stretch, Vince, ANB, etc. Just don't do enough.

Great to have Jesse back. Works well with Pedo.

Hunt had a Barry Crocker. Jeffy quiet again.

By the way Dayne Beams is an absolute star, Mathieson five free kicks for!

Mathieson has a very slappable head

So let's recap this week's posts in the Hogan thread:

1. We are better without Hogan in the side

2. He should earn it in the VFL like everyone else

3. Our fitness and medical staff are incompetent and negligent for letting him play

Some 'supporters' are just pathetic

Let's be honest. West Coast aren't beating Adleiade at home, let alone by 50 odd points.

We're playing finals ladies and gents. Nath Jones in September. Drink it in.

West Coast win by 20, Melbourne's loses by 20 and we are out of the finals.

Not even close to being over.

In rough terms there is about a 40 point difference between us and wet coke. If we lose by 20 points and they win by 20 points they may scrape us by about .1 of a percent. I think wet coke may beat Adelaide who already have a top 2 position locked. We have to beat the pies.

Jeezus H!  My fingernails are gone, I'm wearing a blood pressure cuff, I don't' know where a bottle of scotch has gone and the cat takes off like a shot out of a gun whenever it sees me!

Sitting here thinking my brother has changed his name/avatar.

Alco Crazy cat man. Blood pressure and all.

Pedo best on for me. Great contesting, hits packs like 3 Jack Watts combined, goals, massive tackles. Will be one to watch if we ever play a final on the "G'

On the flip side, Josh Wagners primary school skills and constant brain fades are going to cost me my voice box. Absolutely infuriating to watch the bloke spud it up today. Swap for anyone on the list next week.

And finally, when will someone tear that lions wankers head off. Surely the biggest head ducking cheat in the game Mathieson. Knees collapse every time he gets the ball.

It was very Melbourne to limp over the line. It was very Melbourne to let them get back into it in the last quarter. However it was very UN-Melbourne to actually win it.

I put it down to the value of experience. Hibberd and Lewis were terrific at the end there, cool and composed. Both experienced ring ins. Compare that to say, TMac, and the gulf in composure was enormous.

Jesse fantastic and Pedersen not far behind.

I want Frost back and TMac in the forward line next week.

Dayne Beames. [censored] hell, it's been a while since an opposition player reamed us the way he did today. Great player.

Just saw the Bernie incident. Wouldn't expect him to be suspended for that, was a genuine spoiling attempt, just a bit crude. Could have absolutely ironed Beams out if he wanted, but kept his eye on the ball for as long as he could

Jones was wonderful again coming into some great form towards the exciting time of the year.

Pedo great with a happy looking Jesse made me all warm and fuzzy.

Brisbane are definitely the best wooden spooners in a long time. They have won a few of late and pushed the dogs and tigs. They'll be alright if they can keep there talls another couple years while not losing much from the midfield.

Not sure what the coaches see in Wagner but I don't. I'd like Salem back for him. I know Hannan kicked a clutch goal last game also but I still think Watts might pinch his spot now that Jesse and Pedo will take the top 2 defenders.

Whats happened to stretch? Looks like a lost child out there at the moment. I'd say he'll be the one in strife when Viney is back

My personal reflections on Jesse Hogan as a footballer are moot. He is part of our team. I will support him. congratulations for the 6 goals. That it was against the bottom of the ladder defence is irrelevant... I watched on Friday night Adelaide v Sydney and concluded that we are well below the required standard to get further than the second week of finals.. still; not too bad all considered. We enjoy the moment. Nice at the least to be in a position of contemplation. Thanks to all for the entertaining comments. May you all wake up tomorrow.

Melksham did a great job on Zorko when we decided to tag him and collect 29 possies himself and a goal.

Certainly in a good vein of form

Came here to say just that. Great game from milkshake today! Becoming a very important cog

What's going on with Mathieson and the umpires? More than a quarter of his possessions came from free kicks. Same thing happened last year. I haven't seen a lot of the Lions this year, but does that happen every game?

Watch him every time the lions play.

Throws his head back like he is in the hands of ISIS, every time someone lays a hand on him, even if its around his waist.

Cheating, head throwing, knee buckling filth.

On a positive note for Brisbane, how good is Hipwood going to be. Amazing mobility for a bloke his height.

They seem to have a really good collection of young talls.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
