Some notice next time pls WW!  Wd mate.  Yes I saw him for first time a few years back with son in tow as a budding guitarist.  He didn't know what hit him.  Actually I didn't know what hit me as I hadn't realised how much NY was into grunge & heavy vs his ballads.  Think he might have sung one ballad or two max on the night lol.

Pineapple after witnessing his first game I saw him as a bit like a smaller version of Fyfe.  Looking good so far and getting better by the month!  That snap off his left in heavy traffic was typical of his goal sense, real natural footy instincts and quick reflexes. A real natural that you don't see much of anymore.

He is good inside 30 with those quick snaps. If he can kick over 40m, he will go another level. Hooks it all the time looking for distance.

Free kicks 27 to 16

maggots did their usual WA best to fark us over but to no avail

Go Dees

There will be crisis talks over this. Too much complacency. They thought they just had to show up and the free kicks would pay themselves. Time for Lethlean to show some leadership and demand a 4 quarter effort. Anything less than 30 frees and a 2:1 ratio will be deemed unacceptable.

I couldnt watch it ....could listen on the radio. On the replay Viney clearly playing the ball and eyes firmly on it so hopefully he'll be ok. But he may miss with his shoulder anyway.

At half time the idiot WA commentators were both sayng Oliver should get suspended for faking re the hit he took. Saying the league needed to crack down on players falling over for frees. Unbelievable. Why would you "fake" for a free AFTER the half time siren...then lie on the ground holding your chin. hmmmmm, crazy thought I know,  but maybe he got hit??? Then with 5 minutes to go they started gloating..remembering the way the world was in 2002 (the last tie we beat them there) Each trying to out do each other. Sooooooo satisfying to shut them up it really was.

This whole business of players faking/exadurating a reaction to an striking incident off the ball is total BS.  WC player dosen't strike Oliver and there is no potential acting to be made for a free.  WC player (can't remember who it was) is in total control of the situation, was no need whatsoever for him to lash out at Oliver regardless of the force of the contact which did/didn't occur or was intended.

In retrospect, I think that Oliver getting that little strike was a bonus for us as it really fired him up and he played a great second half after being well held in the first.  Whilst Clayton works wonders with his handballs, his kicking is also pretty darn good and is a real weapon when he gets in a bit of space and can use it.

Acting for free kicks during general play is a different matter.

The 2nd edition of tomorrows h/sun. the first one had Grundys mark but Tommy's performance was better. Makes me nervous when media people talk about us potentially being a contender. But we are playing pretty good footy. Win next week and it will be on.

I hope Tommy frames that and keeps it on his lounge room wall.

I survived , I was behind the goals the as the ball sailed through I stood up double fisted pump the air  and yelled out a very long Yesssssssss that you may have heard on the east coast surrounded by some of the most one eyed supporters I have everseen. Back to the game

1. We are the most competitive Melb  side in my 45yrs watching.

2. Jack Viney is the toughest captain since Voss and without him we would have lost.

3. Max Gawn is a class act

4.We are never beaten

5. Our Premiership window is open and we could do this in 2017

6. I don't want to trade Tmac anymore.

When you realise T Mac kicked the last 3 goals of the game!!

Take McGovern for example. I reckon 99/100 (including myself) would rate McGovern as the better defender. The interesting thing about this game is neither of them played KPD for the majority of the game.

Who had a better game??? I think that's obvious.... because if McGovern kicked straight the game was over...

Kudos where Kudos is due - Well done T Mac

Never ever wanted to trade T Mac and didn't really want to loose Frawley, but not sure the later would actually make it into our best 22 anymore.

Was as an impressive an effort from a key forward as I have seen in the red and blue for a while.  Lead well, kicked clutch goals and provided a presence up the ground as well.

Agree

Hogan who..... hahaha

With 6 or whatever minutes to go I honestly thought the game was over and we really missed a key forward target (Ie Hogan/Watts)

But up stepped T Mac... Might be the best 5 mins of his career to date

I was actually worried about how we might need to restructure our foward play around a strong focal point for Hogan when he comes back, but last night proves we can do it.  I think Hogan will also be pretty happy with some of the delivery into the forwardline at the moment.

Exactly as I see it, last week Shuey runs past the ball , takes out Dangerfield with a high hit , escapes with a fine because it was classed as unintentional ie he didn't intend to hit him high. This was incidental contact in a contest for the ball

The problem is that Hurn was more injured than Dangerfield was (not a criticism of Hurn, btw.).

Shuey was charged but it was careless with low impact to the head. That's a $1,500 sanction, down to $1,000 with a plea.

If Viney is charged, he might get careless and medium impact to the head. That's 2 matches down to 1 match with a plea.

The issue is whether or not Viney gets charged at al. Dale Thomas got off because the MRP said he was contesting the ball, therefore no reportable offence. If the MRP says Viney was contesting the ball, then he should be fine. Otherwise, he'll get a week (assuming it was "medium" impact as it forced Hurn from the field),

On Saturday night scoreboard which followed our game,  Ben Dixon and Kate Sheehan were praising the game of Max Gawn in regards to his 19 hitouts to advantage in his first game back from a long absence.

To quote Brad Johnson, the so called host of this show in reply to their praise of Max. " He's done that on the back of one game in the 2's so he was ready to do that."

I hope that not one dollar from my Foxtel subscription goes to a buffoon like Johnson. It's bewildering the amount of times these so called experts misinform the viewers and getting paid top dollar to do it. You can't value their opinions at all, that's why Demonland is the best fan forum around for opinions, discussions and humour. Keep up the good work team!

Best Sunday ever coming up!!!

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
