WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC

ignition.

Recommended Posts

I thought he was sensational in the game he played against us. He really stood out for me, and that is the main reason why I started this thread. For me he looked to be in a similar class to several of our young talents.

If we can acquire him for a third, or particularly a forth round pick, it's great value!

I see far greater upside in Balic over the likes of drafting another 18 year old Hulett or Johnston. Granted, Taylor may find another Hunt via the draft, but I saw Balic in a similar league, albeit a completely different role.

Hope we grab him.

The Age is reporting we are interested in Harley:

"Melbourne are believed to have shown interest in Fremantle youngster Harley Balic, who is eyeing a move to a Victorian club after two seasons with the Dockers. The 20-year-old spent extended periods on leave from Fremantle this year as he dealt with personal issues. The Demons are remaining tight-lipped on the matter".

Who knows how accurate that is!  Demons are saying nothing (and I like that).

I don't usually try and imagine trades but if the report is true might we trade Kent for him?

GReat we are remaining tight lipped on the matter. Gen trained with us in his under 18 year and whilst he doesn't have speed there are some nice things to his game. Picked at 40 odd (although dropped like a stone) and has issues, played only a couple of games, packet of chips should get it done.

With all due respect this is old news.

just because he is said to be grappling with his demons, doesn't mean the demons are interested in him

"The Hogan trade"?

If there was a trade and he was part of it, then he would have to be a very small part of it on what he's done so far.

Just passing on what I am given...

It is understood that the Adelaide Crows, Fremantle Dockers and the Melbourne Demon have held initial talks about the possibility of a 3-Way-Deal for the 2017 AFL Draft.

The Deal would see Jesse Hogan, who has reportedly informed the Demons of his desire to return home to Western Australian as he battle home-sickness. Jake Lever would find his way to the Demons and the Docker’s would send their first round pick (currently pick 5) to the Crows.

Jesse Hogan had a huge 2017 off the field, with the 22-year-old being diagnosed with testicular cancer, after a small tumour was discovered during a routine ultrasound. The diagnosis came just weeks after his father, died from the disease.

Hogan has overcame the disease as the tumour had not spread into the rest of his body and it was able to be removed successfully.

Now the 22-year-old has had discussions with the club at the prospect of a return to Perth, as his mother has become his main priority and wants to make a move to be close to her as they both continue to deal with their loss.

The Demons are believed to be open to a potential move of Hogan Back to Perth if it could land their No.1 target of Jake Lever, who is believed to have told teammates that the 2017 season is almost certThe Crows would be pleased with the Dockers first draft pick, as they could use their own first round pick which as it currently stands is pick 17 to the Blues along with a 2nd or third round pick to secure Bryce Gibbs, who they failed to get a deal done with the Blues during the last AFL trade period.

There is still a lot of water to go under the bridge before this deal can even be considered close to being done, but it is understood to be growing some traction and expect to gain momentum once the Adelaide 2017 campaign comes to end, as they will take on Geelong next Friday night in the first Preliminary Final at Adelaide Oval.

This is fascinating, assuming it's true, who do we target to add to the forward line in this trade or the next trade period? We'd need to add some finishing goal kicking class if Pedo and TMAC were to be our spine next year. Watts, Garlett, Petracca + Menzel/Fritsch/Crameri/Balic etc

That article he posted is from a rubbish site looking for clicks.

Not only that but it's already been posted, so 'passing on what he has heard' is him just copy and pasting an article of no substance.

I wish people would check this stuff out before posting. It would make life so much easier.

[Assuming it's true] is just me engaging in a thought-exercise, We've been doing the same thought exercise all year with Hogan in the frame for next year. We all did the same when someone made up a [censored] Rockliff rumor in trade week last year. Most of us are clearly unproductive and like engaging in this stuff.

Mentioned as a hypothetical perhaps but where has MFC's interest been noted or reported?

I'm pretty underwhelmed. He'd be another depth selection given his skill set isn't what we're screaming out for.

He doesn't possess speed or great footskills so I'm surprised to hear we're targeting him.

Hopefully just rumours.

Probably just a 'real' rumour ie its true that a club has inquired but doesn't eventuate.

There are probably dozens of those made by each club every year - most inquiries go nowhere.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
