Last year's loss to them was just utterly infuriating. We led by 6 points with 9 minutes left, and allow them to run all over us. Our 3 losses this year have been very similar. If it's close near the end, I have zero confidence we'll come out on top. We have too many players that just look for ways to spud it up and lose it. I think our only chance to win today is to jump out from the blocks.

Remember the GC game last season? We did everything to lose that one and we were lucky. Lynch could have pinched it for them in the dying minute. GC were a shambles then.

I almost regurgitated my eggs benedict! O Mac in the forward line!! let me ponder that a bit!

At least the benedict is far tastier than the usual response Omac gives, heart in the mouth. Maybe wash it down with a snifter of breakfast brandy, sit back and enjoy the show. Hopefully that will be the last oral discomfort you endure today.

Not looking forward to watching boys play in the stupid white jumper.

Otherwise, very pumped to be here in Melbourne to watch a game! ??

Such a good opportunity for the 22 today. Lost 3 in a row, backs against the wall, undermanned, owe the bombers for last years game, playing to show respect for a mates fallen father, playing to put us back in the race for finals.

They don't need any more inspiration. The leaders must take this game on their backs and steer us to victory.

Jones, Lewis and Vince to step up. Viney to shut out Merrett. Tmac to get one back on Joe.

Im backing us to play 4 quarters.

Finals on the line today. If we lose it will be hard to make it back given our fixture. We've been handed a dream run to start the year, not leaving Melbourne for over two months. We need to win today, and we need to absolutely belt the Hawks next week to make our percentage competitive.

If we lose this week I'll be disappointed. If we lose next week against the Hawks I'll give up. Next week should be a 70-80 point belting to give us a percentage boost we failed to get against Carlton.

Hawks beat West Coast by 50pts after back to back 14 goal losses.

What makes you so confident they won't bounce back again?

Morning all

Must win today. The door is open

Whorethorn are gone....

Morning SWYL!

I think we can win. The backline looks good today. Hope Hibberd puts on an absolute blinder against his old club. Also hoping for a big lift from Milkshake, as his old fans boo him all day long..Trac needs to stay on track with that knee. Last 3 times weve played well here. The HOODOO is over. Stick to the game plan and for godsakes kick straight.

I've graduated from 'woe is me'  to quietly confident about our prospects as the week has progressed.  The team selections (both sides), and a slightly longer break, give us a bit of an edge imo, and I think we can play harder for longer and get over the line ........  but Tracc needs to be 100%.  He could be the difference if it goes down to the wire, I reckon.

Seeing him Tracc out before the game with a bandage on his knee (I know... Bone bruising) is enough to give me palpitations.

No doubt we can play well. It's all in the players mind. I know we can beat the bummers by 10 goals easily but we are as likely to lose by just as much. Pointing the finger at YOU Jones, Viney and others with leadership pretensions!

I do this too. I'd rather lose my money though!!

Here early and the roof is closed.

Not much red and blue being worn - lots and lots of red and black.

If we lose I hope Hibberd and Melksham don't stop to laugh and joke with their old team mates.  Never like to see that.  Just shake their hand and move on guys.

If we win milk it for all its worth.

Go Dees.

Watts and pedo doing ruck warm up... OMAC warning up with the backs

Someone needs to be watching the Essendon tap closely, because 8 out of 10 that's where the ball is going today.

I have tried every which way to consider how we can find a win.....very very hard to see it happening.

Need a few players to play career best football.  Winning the contested ball won't be enough.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
