Only when I have to be, Dan.

There is obviously a massive difference between an attack on Christian directly and an observation re Demonlanders views on his 'break out ' game - if that's too nuanced @Wiseblood let me walk you through it

It's just a good thing that you don't pot the posts of others.

Yeah true RTG, and i am only shitty because we lost against an inferior side. (nothing personal as i rate you as a poster)

Still doesnt excuse another loss to an ordinary side.

It's not, but thanks for the offer.  Time to move on.

Our decision making from marks is still so bad.

JKH took a mark, was being held and tried to play on while still being held.

Madness.

Yeah I remember that one. Was ludicrous

Wow,

I can't fathom the lack of 'support' on here.

how about I come to your work on Wednesday shatter your coworkers shoulder, and then break another ones ribs, all before lunch, and then Scream at you for not being 100% productive.

I'd report you to HR

We're all a bit touchy Ding. No dramas.

No. We COULD have won with better set ups, players quicker to the ruck. How did they suddenly have space fwd ?

No apologists please

All attributable to fatigue.

no unreasonable negative pains in the ass please.

Bulldogs proved this last year, far more injuries than us but still able to win games.

They didn't really....not in this situation anyway.

They were in a similar position to us against the Cats during the season. A couple down on the bench.

The Cats ran them over quite easily in the end.

You can cover injuries if you have depth but you can't cover game day injuries if they happen so early in the game. Particularly the ones we had with the team we went in with...

It was only a matter of time before Richmond got us tonight.

Imagine if...

We took D. Martin instead of Trengove; and

We picked J. Riewoldt ahead of Frawley

A couple of draft bungles we don't often talk about...

Frawley was an AA defender, and his departure netted us very good compensation.

Trengove was destined to be a gun, but never got a run at it due to injuries.

I wouldn't class either as "bungles".

Toumpas over Wines, now there's a "bungle".

Im just as [censored] as everyone & another missed opportunity

1 Reality is our wasted opportunities going forward

2 Poor turnovers continue to cost us and too many easy goals as a result

3 Massive injuries and being 2 down and no ruck plus you lose Watts field work...very hard to cover

4 I think we are cursed...Losing 2 rucks within 2 weeks...We must be jinxed!

Some of the stupid comments re Petracca playing his second season really?? Get a grip people!

There were positives but im gonna go on a rant because i can.

That was the worst 3 goal game i have seen with Jesse Hogan. Thought he cleaned up his attitude over the off season? When Garlett was streaming forward Hogan kept leading back when all he needed to do was lead forward to the ball carrier. Garlett was out on his feet and barely made it to him simply because he wanted the quick easy one out the back.

Wake up Jesse!

Been saying it for 18 months now but Tom McDonald is not the answer to our backline. He is a 2nd tall defender not a first. I have lost all confidence in our defence and when the general is TMac then we have serious issue's.. Im scared already what Daniher eill do to us next week. Steven May has to be our number 1 priority.

How good was Hibberd though?

Dusty would have been out of the game by now under our old regime. We would have ruined each other.

Id still trade Riewoldt for Petracca and Brayshaw. Everyday. When we win a flag with them both out of the centre with Clarry you can hail my genius. ;)

Terribly unlucky with injuries. You can't win two men down for three quarters unless you take every possible chance when you have a full contingent.

We didn't and paid the price. Very disappointed because we could easily be 3-2, even 4-1.

Nat Jones another shocker. Watts crucified in the ruck again. Very sorry for Jake and Smith.

Why doesn't Hogan lead anymore? He plays his best footy leading up the ground and doubling back. Tonight he stood there like a statue calling for it on his head. I can remember two instances where he had a paddock in front of him and instead of leading st the ball carrier he stood still and called for it on his head. He's so lazy sometimes! Coaches should've thrown him into the ruck in the last quarter and he would've had heaps left in the tank while Watts was out on his feet from busting his ass again. I wish Hogan had Watts work ethic and resilience.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
