6 - Watts ( far from a good game but nobody deserved more votes )

5 - Hunt ( not his best game but at least took his opponents on )

4 - Garlett ( only forward who looked likely )

3 - Spencer ( definitely tried against the odds )

2 - Petracca (  if only he had a tank )

1 - Oliver ( lucky dip)

6. Watts - a very good effort from Jack and today he played like a leader who cared.

5. Spencer - big shoes to fill and performed admirably

4. Petracca - nearly won us the game in the last quarter.  Love that he runs, carries and kicks long to a dangerous position.

3. Garlett - a typical opportunistic game from Jeffy.  Chased hard too.

2. Tyson - if only he could use it better but at least he made a contest in the middle.

1. Hunt - takes it on and love his attack in the air as well.

6.  Spencer - did everything that could be expected an more against the biggest genuine ruckman in the league.  Should do well in future weeks against lesser opponents.

6 - Watts - I think that he is showing more and more, and we said that the going down of Max is the making of Spencer, I think it might be the making of Watts.

5 - Hunt - Just getting better each game. He is so important to us.

4 - Garlett - only dangerous forward all day.

3 - Oliver - 10 clearances. While there were mistakes, he is so important to us without Max

2 - Salem - we are so reliant on his kicking. The boys just look for him

1 - Frost - Forgot how composed he is. Really important for us all day.

6 - Garlett. An effort like that deserved a win. 10x the player he was last year.

5 - Watts. Gave a [censored]. Tried and delivered well. Continuing last years form which is pleasing.

4 - Petracca. Provided what should've been the game breaking moment, too bad the so called leaders couldn't hold it together. Someone should've got the ball to him again.

3 - Hunt. The defence, and attack from defence would be unwatchable without him.

2 - Salem. He is so very Luke Hodgeish.

1 - Oliver. I guess.

Honorable mention to Spencer who I would've given votes but he lost to Sandilands. But was still very good.

The most senior players / leadership group hang your [censored] heads in shame.

A really hard game to give votes to Dees because nobody really deserved them, but in the end I went for

6 Petracca - I thought he was the spark that got us going in the second term with that snap and in the last with that monster.

5 Spencer - Sure he lost the hitouts but he kept working and even Gawny struggles to kick two goals a game.

4 Watts - A couple of really nice grabs and not having Hogan hurts him big time.

3 Oliver - For his 10 clearances, but certainly not for his pissy backwards handballs when he could easily have gone forward.

2 Frost - With zone it's hard to figure out who had most responsibility for McCarthy, but his dash was good to see

1 Garlett - Quiet third term like everybody, but clever at times

4. Spencer-A wonderful effort against the giant. Also it was pleasing to note that he didn't need to give JW too much ruck work. Has a tank.

3. Garlett

2. Hunt- so exciting and brave

(Was Nathan Jones sick? Looked to have little drive and his anticipation was missing.)

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
