Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Jono Brown was a [censored] leader too then?

Are we seriously comparing Brown whacking into opposition players in contests to Bernie Vince sniping behind the play? Come on, DA. Worlds apart.

Fact remains, he didn't need to do it. Needless. And he's cost himself a week. It probably won't hurt us, but who knows.

Nothing to do with contests, he got suspended for stupid [censored] just like Bernie. He admits it himself.

Bernie getting suspended takes nothing away from his leadership ability. If it did then he wouldn't be in the leadership group.

Silly hit from Bernie. Unnecessary, pointless, and cheap. 1 week is fair and I wouldn't mind the leadership group pulling him aside and giving him a clip.

Don't need to go far with it but Jonesy could just chat behind closed doors and just say, "c'mon mate, you need to be better than that".

When you over react like Wright did, of course they're going to see if he was not concussed.

Did he return to the field? Yes. Concussed? No.

FMD.

It was reckless and stupid. Majority on here know that.

Again copped what he deserved.

It's a demonland thing that he was imagined to get off.

It was clear as day he was going to cop a week. Going by both his poor record and the fact that he hit someone in the head, way off the ball. That was completely unnecessary.

I mean, what was his intention if it wasn't hitting the bloke?

Melb supporters can be delusional.

Certainly but I think the suspension had as much to do with bernies record as it did the action.

for me that action warrants a fine at worst if no other factors come into play.

Bottom line is a leader should not be doing that rubbish. Now he misses a game for it.

Love Bernie.

He kept us in the game. Simple.

The focus by some wannabe school headmasters here is ridiculous - it's footy and he's not a nasty player. He's competitive, tough and cheeky. And he cops it back without complaint - remember how he ruffled Dangerfield's feathers and then Danger overstepped the mark.

Perhaps he overstepped the mark for a split second, but it reflected his competitive determination throughout the entire game. Look at his performance as a leader over the other 119 mins and 59 seconds of the game - his contribution was invaluable.

The red and blue glasses are on a bargain price now that we have come good. Unfortunately a few on here have cashed in.

Spot on mate. If Clayton Oliver did it he would have copped a fine. But its his record and stupidity thats cost him in the end.

I also thought it was ok, Ron B.

Like other 'unsociable' footballers Bernie plays close to the edge of the rules.  Sometimes his antics get noticed, sometimes not.

It is Bernie's job to ruffle opposition feathers.  Someone needs to do it.  Bernie is the best we have at it...until Lewis gets going...

Edit...and of course Viney isn't too bad at the ruffling feathers caper, either:cool:

Watching the game I thought Bernie was sniping, perhaps more than usual. I think he overstepped the mark and he needs to tone it down a bit, not too much. 1 week probably appropriate. We have a few now that let the opposition know that we are around, love it.

Yes and when he hammered Dangerfield throughout THAT match, some of the ones on here criticising him, were applauding him for that effort.

But his performance as a leader over the entire 120minutes next week will be rather hard to spot as a result of his stupidity.

Reports now confirming Bernie has accepted the one match ban.

Have a look at the vision in the attached article - he's hit him with his armpit in the upper back. FMD. Don't want to lose him for two games though....

Most of us love Bernie, but he has developed a track record and that is not good. He needs to be much more careful otherwise the penalties will keep coming.

This all has a certain similarity to early last season. Vince cops a week for the exact same charge. But beyond the Bernie castigations vs. MRP outrage at the surface, there was a sense that his omission wasn't too crucial as we had put in a good all-round midfield performance the week before (North) and weren't certain how we could otherwise squeeze in a side-lined midfielder (Brayshaw). This time it's Tyson and I hope we learned our lesson last time.

Didn't we beat Collingwood the week after?

We did. Our midfield was firing just fine. No need to bring in an underdone Brayshaw.

Ah I see what you're saying....I think the difference is Dom has had 3 full games (1 JLT, 2 with Casey) so he should be ready to go

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
