Bernie Vince - MRP?

bandicoot

the movement of his arm is a very odd action. i wonder if it got stuck behind the player or was being held, so he brought it up and over to free it, clipping the head with bicep. which to me would make it more accidental than intentional. wish there was more video angles and detail.

Wright went off for a concussion test afterwards so your claim of ''There was bugger all in it'' just looks silky.

He is a leader FFS and is prone to sniping every now and then.

Copped what he deserved and now we move.

Initially I disagreed, but having learned of the concussion tests and Wright being off for a quarter I agree, 1 week.

Bernie was actually lucky, as in another incident he barrelled Armitage into the fence, after a point, when there was absolutely no need to touch him. That looked far worse to me.

Bernie needs to get smarter on the field and use controlled aggression and not go for cheap shots.

While he has overstepped the mark and got suspended in this instance, I wonder whether he was trying to distract the St Kilda players from their game by some gamesmanship, the needling, little cheap shots to just annoy the saints and hopefully distract them.  They certainly seemed 'on' in the first quarter so maybe he took it upon himself to annoy the carp out of the saints in an effort to try and disturb their concentration...

Hes a sniper and has filled in Lynden Dunns spot as the fake tough guy.

Love Bernie more then anyone but your spot on, he need to smarten up his actions and just play football with a more controlled aggression.

We don't need him to be the "tough guy" anymore either we just need him to be consistent because his skills and vital to our chances when he plays.

We have a team now that I don't think will be physically intimidated by anyone really

but the mrp deemed it low impact

what got him was it was deemed intentional

What a poor reading of character! Nothing fake about Bernie... a lair perhaps, but he is loved by coaches and team mates because he has legit cred for backing up his mouth when required.

Snipers are universally derided by opposition supporters and players alike. We all know who the snipers in the competition are, and Bernie is not one of them.

Everyone likes Bernie, and, even though he occasionally plays on the edge, he still commands the respect of opposition supporters and players.

That he is probably leading the club's B&F count after round one (judging by Goodwin's effusive praise of his performance following the game) serves to show that those here who feel the need to snipe at Bernie probably don't reflect the views of the MFC's coaching staff and player group towards him/his approach. They probably love it, which is why he is in the leadership group.

Goodwin said as much in his presser - he 'loved the 'leadership' shown by the team's 'leaders' in the game'.

He is starting to get a rap of being a sniper amongst opposition supporters. Saints supporter around me were yelling out what a sniping [censored] he was after his hit on Wright.

He is prone to do little strikes behind play since he has started with us. He needs to clean this act up.

Simon Goodwin would not have been happy one bit with Vince missing a week for stupidity. Goodwin would have onky seen the incident after his press conference.

Agree to disagree.

So much typical bullshlt here.

Had there been GENUINE concern , as i understand it it, Wright should NOT have retaken the field.

That he DID is all thd MRP needed to hand a fine at most.

Some of you must be getting as soft in ths head as the Saints.

Can just imagine Richos comnents ' stop acting the goat and play footy '

MRP have ir in for Bernie.

Saints supporters behind me wanted to quote "kill Jesse hogan" when I asked why " he is the dirtiest player behind play" go figure!!! Couldn't give two hoots about opposition supporters opinions.....it is generally the "tall poppy" syndrome.  Bernie was never mentioned once ..even after his tap.

I guess there had to be one thread where we all had to get chippy with each other after a win.

We can't bag others for the 'red and blue' glasses, either.  We all wear them when it suits us.

Exactly.

It's reached a conclusion.

Why are people still discussing it?

Because the thread is still active.

Very minimal contact. shouldnt be wiped out for that. that's a free kick, maybe a fine but nothing more. I was shocked when I heard he had been given a week for that.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
