People are talking about resting players after playing one game in 6 months!?

faaark me. If no niggles/knocks, get the best team out there

only one more match until the season starts in 4 weeks

Looking forward to seeing

1. Weideman continue to develop in the seniors.

2. A fit Jack Trengove light it up

3. Christian Salem playing on the ball

4. Clarry build match fitness and run out the game

Heading down for the double header; I can't see where members can aquire a ticket so since it is free to us I guess we just rock up.  Ticketmaster will sell you a ticket if you are a non member but of course I don't want to pay.  Does anyone have any intel on this matter

Unless a player has a slight niggle (Hogan?) I'd go close to full strength and continue our good synergy of last week.

I know it's only JLT but we need to start getting fair-dinkum against this mob and getting into a winning habit.

We've been absolutely diabolical against Carlton the last 2 times we've played them, and we play them twice this year. We need to sort out our [censored] against this mob, identify why they've wiped us off the park the last 2 time despite their season being well and truly over, and put into practice how we're going to rectify our performances against them this year.

We should be beating this likely bottom 4 side twice this year.

I assume it is the same as last week - ie with the bar code on your members ticket you can get a reserved ticket for $5 on the Tickeytmaster site.

However the only reason to do so would be if you are concerned the game will sell out. Personally i think that is very unlikely - not least becasue dees fans don't like travelling all the way to the Docklands let alone Cranbourne.

I'd definitely bring Watts in, maybe give one of Weids or Hogan a rest. If Hogan comes out maybe push Gawn into attack more, have those two rotating between ruck and FF.

I'd also like to see Trengove given a good run, maybe one of the fringe players makes way. If Hibberd's ready bring him in, but there's no rush. We know Wagner comes out due to injury, one of Vince, Jones, or Lewis can have a breather this week and maybe build to the final JLT game being our round one dress rehearsal.

Try a few new things, I liked the look of the Spencer/Gawn rotation, and Gawn pushing forward could create some headaches for opposing defenders.

With six players on the bench and no rotation restrictions I don't see a need to rest players as much.

Melbourne have never won a game at Casey, we need to actually play well there for once to generate some interest in the area.

Watts out again

I think Jeffy pulled up with a sore hammy. He had it bandaged at family day

In: Hibberd, Johnstone, Garland, Trengove

Hibberd in for Wagner. Will be interesting to see if they go with the same emergencies this week or if they give someone else a run. I'd certainly like to see Trenners and DJ get a run, maybe for Harmes and ANB.

Edit: DJ will play as per MFC website.

Just Wags and Jeffy for Hibbs and DJ?

Surprised there isnt more rotating, would have liked any of Watts (apparently still with issues?), Pedersen,  hulett,  T Smith, Keilty and frost to come in for a run. The fact Frost again hasnt been selected makes me think there are more than considering elevating J Smith to play in the backline come round 1...

Although does this now leave us with all 3 of Kent, BenKen and Jeffy on or just returning from the injury list not the greatest leadup for our smalls... DJ might even have a chance at a surprise early selection.

Mahoney confirmed that key forward would not play again this week and explained why.

“We think there has been some predictable, but unfair media speculation about Jack Watts’ non-selection. To clarify, the team is being selected on some key criteria, during the pre-season,” he said.

“Jack knows exactly what needs to be worked on and his past two or three weeks, he’s been working hard on what he needs to improve on in certain areas.

“He still remains a key player for us this season.”

Dee, I'd much prefer the likes of ANB, Harmes, JKH, et al, to be playing.  Reality is, this is still a practice match, so let's try and build some confidence with these guys.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
