Looking only at stats:

Doesn't take a heap of marks and very few contested marks. Doesn't kick goals, 1 for the entire year. So very much a follower type of ruckman who looks as though he can run like an extra midfielder.

Which is probably where the game is going with the Dogs using Roughead and Boyd like extra followers.

Does find a bit of the ball and has had some big hit out games.

Can't say he's any worse than most ruck prospects. But doesn't look like the answer to our forward/ruck problems.

He's quite raw but i reallly like his intent and his follow up work, and he's quite good at getting clean hands on the ball in the ruck, will take some time but in 3-4 years i think he could be an AFL standard ruckman, good selection.

very happy with our other two rookies as well.

This bloke isn't the answer to any of our needs next year. Dunno what we are going to do if Max goes down..We will be funked.still think we could have rookied a mature Ruckman. Not another bean pole who can't kick

So the club didn't  go for mature age ruckman because?. ......

I wish you'd told the FD this before the draft cos they probably don't know.  Just kidding.

The FD obviously have a lot more faith in Pencil than many here.

Spencil's performance in the VFL grand final justifies the lack of faith in his abilities such as they are.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
