Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Personally, l feel a number of those referred to above have done a sterling job at VFL level (however victims of our list improvement overall). Casey winning a Premiership this year can only be good for the Melbourne Demons (as per Box Hill Hawks) and the guys moving through our list. I would love to see Terlich, Michie, Newton, etc given decent contracts by Casey and the Scorpions becoming a "Powerhouse" in the VFL, playing the Demons game plan. Keep the boys together! ANB I would keep as I don't think that we have seen the best he has to offer yet!

Dunne and Neal-Bullen are contracted till 2017 and Garland beyond that. So to leave they would need a trade and the club has not in the last 3 years dumped a contracted player. They may not if Hibberd is coming.

I think we dumped Evans when he was contracted, or rather he rejected a rookie spot offer.

No way will we get rid of ANB.

I'd like to see him break into the seniors and do well, but at the moment he is one of our best prospects as trade bait.

I know quite a few people want Matt Jones gone, at times I am one of them, but I think he's staying put. He's coverage and seems to play his role when he comes in. Look at Cheyne at Hawthorn, he's not a world beater but when he comes in he plays a role.

Matt Jones is genuine depth, and has improved on last year and should be kept.

Kyle Cheney now plays for Adelaide and is doing quite well, having played most games this year.

Probably true, but what would we get for him realistically? A 3rd rounder, probably not worth it given the development we've put into him already.

I dont think they will "get rid" of him but I suspect there will be teams that come for him. Such consistant form at VFL level but a lack of opportunities may make a trade appealing to him. So many inside mids ahead of him he will know that getting in the side is going to be challenging esspecially as others are still expected to improve. Port, Brissy, GC, Essendon, Carlton and Richmond all could use an ANB type prospect. One of those clubs come offering game time and ANB may request a trade.

Trengrove is in trouble.  He has started "work experience" at top tier Melbourne Stockbroking firm BaillieuHolst.  The firm is expecting him to be de-listed and as such is considering him closely for a full time role in 2017. Trengrove will have the network they are looking for, but will have to demonstrate he can be trained. I have no inside word on what the club is intending to do (its unlikely they have yet made a final decision), but that they have aided him in finding "work experience" and that BaillieuHolst is seriously considering leads to the conclusion he will be likely let go.

He does seem pretty attached to his mate Billy. Not saying it would be a deciding factor, just an influencing one. No way I'd be letting ANB go if it can be avoided. He will be a player down the track. That said, with the amount of talent on the list, one or two guns slipping through the fingers is almost inevitable.

I'm not as keen to get the broom out as others when we are sitting top of the VFL table. Depth is a strength at the moment so delisting of players like Michie and Newton needs to be carefully considered as they who are both still reasonably young and placing pressure upon those in the seniors. They themselves may seek out opportunities elsewhere.

Players I see being moved on are Terlich and Grimes with Dunn, Dawes and Spencer all possibilities to be playing elsewhere next season. I'd keep Garland at least for depth as he is more adaptable to the attacking game plan.

We need cool heads in charge of these decisions. Obviously the club is in a much healthier point now, but we've seen what can happen when you let a bunch of senior players go in one hit. I'd be happy seeing changes staggered over the next two years rather than a whole heap at once, but a lot will depend on whether certain players are happy to stick around knowing where they sit in the pecking order.

I just can't see Trengove playing AFL next year

he gave it a magnificent crack to come back but his pace is just not quick enough at the top level

there is no way he could have kept up all game last saturday. We still have to improve our list, so tough decisions must be made.

Are you suggesting he may play Ammo's next year with Collegians?

Most players are doing work experience in some capacity, GNF.  I wouldn't read in to that part too much.

If I were in charge of list management I'd be looking to either move on or delist the following: Max King, Ben Newton, Viv Michie, Chris Dawes, Jack Grimes, Dean Terlich which leaves two spots on the rookie list and four picks in the draft discluding potential trades, which of course will come into consideration. Give Mitch White anther year, he has potential and we've already invested two years into him. Jack Trengove another year as well, unless a good trade option comes up and I expect it will. ANB, DEFINITELY keep. No question about it. He'd be averaging almost if not over 30 possessions a game in the VFL and it is his second year in the system. No idea how his name entered this discussion. Keep Matt Jones and Cam Pederson, both have their weaknesses but are reliable back-ups, the former being apart of the best side we can field if he can just get improve on his ball use.

Good points. Please post more often.

Shop/Trade:

- Grimes, ANB, Dawes, Garland

Delist:

- Terlich, Michie, Newton, Lumumba,

Retain:

- Trenners (rookied)

--------------------------------------------------

We will have to delist at least 5, maybe 6.

So, I would say Dawes/Grimes may be let go if they can't find a new home. Garland/ANB will be retained.

You're not, could ANB be trade bait as well as Trengove, Max King should be kept, Gawn is only coming good after 6 years on the list, King like all young big men has had body issues.

I think Trenners will get a 1 year contract. I think a full pre-season with no hiccups will benefit him greatly

Agree. We need to keep Max King and give him another year to have a run at it. He needs more development, both physically and in his game. We now have the right program to do that. He is a 202 cm ruck/forward and we don't have too many of those and they are hard to find. Lets make sure this guy can or cannot make it before we make a decision on him.

BTW, hello to all those who wanted Hunt and Watts gone at the end of last season.

We need 3 picks in the ND ( compulsory)

Wagner likely to be upgraded to full list.  We have traded away 1st round pick.  Hibberd and or Hurley to fit in?

i.e we need  4, 5 or 6 "holes"

Delisting contracted players like Dunn, Garland, Lamumba is not feasible, as we will push the salary cap this coming year, and their salary is included if you simply delist.

The uncontracted players are the ones in the gun.

I'll put my hand up to wanting Watts gone, 8 years of not much made that a justified thought, even Roos shopped him around. So what was so different to this year from last?

As for us Demonlanders Jumbo was the most vocal for persisting with him.

How about a big hello to 17 other clubs that could of got him for possibly a mid - late first rounder.

21 team mates all playing as a team, which allows Jack to play just his role and not be a saviour

King has had 3 years in the AFL system yet he is just coasting around in the development league. Max Gawn came off a knee reco and played 4 games in just his 2nd year.

It wouldn't have worried me if King was stringing together some promising games but the fact that he has been dropped down to the development league after poor performance is not a good sign at all.

Jake Spencer missed on the weekend due to injury and Casey preferred Oscar McCirniey for the number 1 ruck role.

Sorry but my bet is King will be delisted.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
