I mentioned this in the Game Day thread last week, I was 100% convinced our win rate and general stats were vastly superior with Pedo in the team.

Nice to see the stats actually back that theory up. Seems very unlikely to be a pure coincidence. Here's to another year in the red and blue for Pedo!

I think he's a useful character to have about the place. Taken some seriously good marks this year.

Nice work although I must agree with RTG who argues we need a better nickname for the guy.

PEDDERS!

Why can't we just. call. him. Pedders

I will preface this with saying I give credit to Pedo for a decent year and expect him to be kept on for one more year...

BUT...

You can't pick out one player and basically give them credit for wins and loses. How did the rest of the team play? What was Pedersen's actual impact (he was goalless in the majority of his games)? Who else was in the team those days? And of course, who was the opposition?

Aside from the Hawthorn game, Pedo's games were generally against teams we usually beat or teams out of form. Only 1 of the wins he played in was against a quality, in-form opposition.

You could use the reverse of this argument to say Hogan is a spud. We beat Geelong and Hawthorn without him, and then lost to Geelong by 111 points with him in.

Pedo deserves another year, but this is shallow analysis.

I don't consider myself PC at all, but there's no way I can call the guy Pedo.

#Peddersisbetters

I like Pedders and his attack on the football, he crashes packs and keeps the opposition on their feet and more so than other players, gives 100%.

Pedo, short for pedometer.

"Pedo's wins": GWS, Collingwood, Richmond, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide

"Pedo's losses": Essendon, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs

I agree that the occasions he was left out had me baffled.

Don't be silly Ethan. Our moral compass calls him Pedo so it must be OK.

Anyway, how often do you get the chance to legitimately  call a guy "Pedo"?

When I saw Pedo at Family day at Luna park greeting kids at the gate I had to laugh.

When he takes a mark the crowd yells Pedo!!!

Its  an extremely unfortunate nickname but They are the ones that stick.

Teams we usually beat?

We don't usually beat anyone.

Really hope that we keep Cam Pedersen on our list next year. Great role player as he can play forward,  defence and help Gawn out on the ball. I think Weideman still is a few years away from being a regular selection.

We beat GWS in round 1 and Port over there with him in the side...

Those are damning. I just could not fathom the final 2 games omission, yeah he wasn't incredible but it screwed up our structure. Instead we back a skinny kid who doesn't contribute in the ruck, and gave Watts that role whose form dropped too.

Pedo stats were interesting, when he played we won more games. But consider what games won (team stats) and player stats would be if we played the Cats,Dogs,Kangaroos etc twice. Even the teams improvement may be non existent. Pedo is a better option than Dawes and the Weed which I am at a loss to why he gets the axe. The Weed is not strong enough at this pt in time and say no more about Dawes.

Neither were anywhere near in-form at the time, as I said in my post.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
