I heard from a very reliable source today, that before the Geelong game the players were cooked and according to the source the club thought they had about 2 quarters left in them.

Take that for what you want.

so what was their excuse for the Carlton debacle ??

Those two last games should not be forgotten if we are to improve beyond our present mediocrity. ( yes we have improved from poor to mediocre but there is a long long way to go.)

Congrats Jack. Next stop: Brownlow.

I mentioned before - reading the Roos tea-leaves - that Max has some work to do (as signposted in his pressers).

So not surprised by Hunt's regard from the coach's box.

But Matrix Oliver? I still thought he'd be contender in the Rising till the very end. What's the deal there?

Clarry was good. The reality is there were several others who were better and more consistent over more games.

Little matter. The kid is going to be a bazooka. Gun doesn't do him justice.

Is there a breakdown of how Choo-Choo polled in the games that he did play? Strange in my opinion that they don't have a mechanism to counter for absenteeism, like shaving off the bottom handful - five or so - of individual polling games - not a big dif for Clarry, but Jack probably deserved last year's Bluey as well.

Agree on the Bazooka though. Our best prospective chance alongside Jack for a Chas in a long time.

Even poorer consisting our excellent run with injuries this season.  Finals sides are gearing up to peak. We wave the white flag.

Most intelligent people realise the afl is not even. Age and conditioning play a massive part in outcomes. Im not going to pretend i know afl conditioning but i think its a safe assumption unless you're already elite most players would take a year or 2 to condition for a full year.

So as a fun exercise go run a couple kms a day for a week or 2 and let me know if you tire out by the end of it.

Maybe then you can put some perspective in your dribble

You even admit it in your comment that we were not funals standard

I'm looking forward to watching Roos' speech myself but it sounds like he's tried to impart a last bit of wisdom not just to the players but the club. Pointing to Richmond and saying "don't become that again".

Over to you now Goody!

Bit surprised Maxy got 3rd. Surprised Jonsey was 2nd but maybe I have just forgotten his first half of the year. He really is a great leader. Well done to Jack. But I would not have had votes for the essendon, carlton or geelong game. Just because they were terrible games. But anyway that wasnt going to happen.

Sounds like it was a good night and a good atmosphere in the room.

Surely anyone who went last night must have heard anything about off field trades and movement?

I asked Jack Watts if his mate Hoges was staying put and he just gave me the thumbs up and said "Yep he'll be ok". Pretty sure that's his standard response though.

How impressive is Brendan McCartney.  I think his impact on the group can't be underestimated.

I liked his description of Hunt: "...will stop at nothing to get the best out of himself and will be a fantastic player for this club for a long time".

I would say that Hunt is one of our better public speakers.  He was composed, articulate, gracious and he remembered to thank supporters!!

He has all the on and off field attributes to become a real leader for our club.    No pressure but Hunt could easily become Viney's V.C.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
