GAMEDAY - Round 17

St Kilda is a far better list than Melbournes will ever be, for one reason and that is that they seem to have players with real heart.

We need a game-day tactician on the coaching panel.

I think what's most disappointing about today is that the same thing happened as it did earlier in the year - they hounded us, got the turnover and then ran hard the other way and made us pay.  It's almost as if they sit back and wait for it to happen.  Why didn't we plan for this?  Only they coaching panel and the players can tell us that.

Even that last pass to Acres is a case on point - they picked off the kick and then got it over the back without an pressure.  We didn't work back hard enough the other way and they made us look silly.

Forget being tired, forget the players on the park - this coaching effort is what has hurt us today.  We didn't plan well enough, nor did we execute what we set out to do.

IF Roos and / or Jackson pull the excuse that we were tired after Darwin I will seriously considering abandoning this club, after 60 years  -- IF they think it true then they should bloody well do something about and DEMAND that if we are to play there, to promote the AFL then it must precede a bye.

If they lack the balls to demand that then I think despite the 'progress' we are truly stuffed.

This might be the official end of the Nathan Jones era. He has beaten them once in his career and his irrelevance and lack of leadership today has been putrid.

Love the bloke, but is a loser. He hasn't played like a bloke who would want to lead his team to a great victory.

Instead, he puts in a shocking performance in a match that ends our season, against the Saints, at Etihad.

This match epitomises this football club, and all that have been involved for the past decade.

Saints fans laughing at us. Fans of a team with 26 spoons and 1 flag are laughing at us.

Dear coaching staff and leadership group,

If you get beaten by the same team, on the same ground, in the same way twice in a season with essentially the same team - it's on you and you need to never, ever let it happen again.

Not just beaten. We are slaughtered. Choose players some who didn't play in Nothern Territory. So that we have some good run.

Why should we beat them every time? They're a better team than us by every measure. This idea that we're better than St. Kilda is just delusional. Please tell me how you work it out?

The Saints used to get rated above Geelong as well because of draft picks.

How did that turn out?

Concerned by Brayshaw's lack of awareness. Not just the times he was caught with it, but also dodgey handballs to teammates directly under the pump.

Kick behind play, spending time out will do that. The VFL is nowhere near the AFL in terms of pace, even if half our side look like they belong there.

We drop our arms when tackle in an attempt to break it, they keep their hands free.

Carrie wouldn't: he would get the handball away cleanly and accurately  - oh, but he wasn't playing today, was he?

I'd like a stat of how many games we've won in this jumper.

Can't recall too many.  And by the way no way it would clash with the Saints today.

The game right there. Add in Hunt as well ... love his attack, but defending still a work in progress.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
