Hogan has 12 goals in 2 games v Saints. They have no answer for him.

I wont be able to handle losing to that 1 premiership, dwarf burning, schoolgirl shagging club again.

You forgot to mention "inappropriate picture taking" ( otherwise a good summation of the team)

tending to agree with others that oliver should be in - we need to win the contest.

st. kilda's run and spread is impressive but as essendon are currently showing if you beat them at the contest you can outwork them.

hickey 'beat' gawn i thought (at least drew even with him and curtailed gawn's dominance), so we need another big one from max next week.

OUT: stretch, o mac
IN: oliver, dunn

Bitters was going to open up a special photography magazine known as

"The Upskirts of Town" until the law started arresting such people.

His shoes are highly polished which is strange for such an otherwise slovenly dresser.

Why do people want Petracca out?

18 disposals (9 kicks, 9 handballs)

2 marks

4 tackles

0 goals , 0 behinds

Not blistering stats by any means, but not terrible under the circumstances. He attempted many things which didn't come off due to conditions. I would definitely give him another game next week and hope for some magic on the dry Etihad.

Thats because they are rubbish, jaded.  Makes it all the more frustrating we never beat them.

I don't know that they're rubbish, they still have a core of very experienced players, and have a couple of decent wins/performances this year. It's more that they've very uneven.

There were a couple of moments when he looked like he was going to pull a rabbit out of a hat in contested situations.  And how about the rocket to Jesse (which was spilt)?

He may need a rest, though.  I would think all of the changes will come from the pool of younger players whose bodies would have been slammed by the hot conditions.  Petracca is obviously one of those along with Stretch, Hunt, Kennedy, Harmes and possibly vandenBerg.

I wonder if they will let Reiwoldt run around by himself and let Jack Stevens run amok in the last half.

I was wondering the same thing, same thing happens every time. Hopefully Roos stays true to his word and picks the best team for eat-your-head stadium (or shitty-head stadium depending on how the game went).

Am I the only one who thinks the idea of a "rest" at Casey is somewhat of a slight on that team?

Top of the ladder, needing to keep up the wins, the last thing Casey needs is players just turning up for a "rest".

I think of a rest as having a week off, ala Oliver, Weideman, Hulett during the year.  Even ignoring the slight on Casey (and I do ignore it - that is what seconds teams are for, like it or not), I'm not sure playing a VFL game is going to be that much more refreshing for the player anyway.

I don't know that it's presented as a rest, more as a chance to go back to Casey and work on some aspects of your game. They mentioned re Oliver that he was working on his defensive game.

In:  Wagner (if fit otherwise Dunn), Bugg, Clarry

Out: Frost, Ben Ken, Tracc (Managed)

Wagner - A no brainer for mine. Fresh and just a more consistently better all round player at this point over 4 quarters.

Ben Ken - No consistency since returning. Up against the Pies. Off against the Swans. Up a little against the Crows. Patchy at best against Freo. The Saints are also a solid clearance/first use team and we would want to match/better them here with Bugg ranked 8th in clearances / BK 14th. Bugg also has the edge in contested, uncontested, the effective disposal count, rebound 50s and one percenters. Ben probably plays forward a little more having a slight edge on inside 50s but that's about it. All in all Bugg has the better all round game IMO, has the edge going both ways and in general play both inside and out. He's also had the rest which will be handy after the taxing game in Darwin.

Tracc - Two or three weeks to recoup and freshen up, especially after Darwin, will do him the world of good. Numbers have slowly but steadily dropped away since the Pies match. Clarry our No.4 clearance getter, 4th in tackles and 9th in effective disposals for player averages this season says that he is more than capable of matching it with our other mid fielders on the day, provided he is well rested. He should be, especially after the bye. Again, we need to match and better the Saints at the coal face. The more the merrier and another fresh man at the contest.

4 changes minimum please, coaches. Would really like to end this stupid St Kilda hoodoo once and for all!

I would be shocked if reviewing the previous Saints capitulation, and understanding the reasons for it, is not mandatory for all coaches and players at the club this week.

I was actually very graceful and dignified in victory, you would have been quite impressed. I kept my celebration low key, similar to below. Confetti, tux, lighting and all. I even paid for some extras to come in and clap me on.

On departure from work, I drove down the Main Street of Fremantle with my scarf out the window, the club song playing and verbally abused anyone I could.

That would make the scarf and song the only point of difference from most Saturday nights outside the Woolies then

I heard on the radio this morning that Seb Ross will come under MRP scrutiny.  He would be a handy omission.  Been playing good footy.

There was absolutely nothing in it. He'll play.

What a debacle last time was. They had 14 or 15 uncontested marks in their fwd 50m. Our backs were clueless as to how to deal with the ball coming in so quickly. We were smashed around the contest and the switch of play.

Ok, didn't see it.

He did get reported, but the TV shot was a funny angle. Live, it looked like he absolutely smashed McDonald-Tipingwuti late, but on replay from another angle he brushed him high with an elbow but practically zero impact.

Having said that, Bernie has been rubbed out this year for something similar, so if there was any consistency (LOL) he would probably get a week.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
