I still think he'll sign again with the club, but it will be on a shorter term deal, like 2-3 years.  He'll get paid well, can focus on his footy and then re-assess and see if we are beginning to look like a serious premiership contender.  If not, well...

Having said all that, a factor he mentioned is where a club is headed.  Freo don't exactly look all that flash right now, especially with Fyfe's future up in the air, so that can only be a positive for us.

If the quotes are truthful, I don't like them.

Why? Because he might stay - and we might become a great footy side, and then you'd have nothing to be so bitter about? ;)

I get a bit sick of this waiting to see how the team is traveling - we heard it from Chip and now Jesse and  Tom Mac. They need to show some leadership and drive the improvement, as Jack Viney is doing. I wish they were invested like he is.

Ok  Ill put it out there.. The guy is obviously full of shlt..or his manager is...

its not that hard to fathom. You have either bought in by now...or you havent.   Whatever

The new players BPA  thingy/whatever is a furphy..its irrelevant.

You know..I dont care..Good if he stays... we still exist if he doesnt...life goes on.. Melbourne remains mediocre ..what changes ?

People perennially postulate awaiting the swinging blade...whats new ?

If he's in...great...if not..  well...

they're all bloody widgets.....

I doubt he's actually waiting to see how we go. He's just got to say something. He can't really say, "I'm definitely staying, just playing hard ball to get a bit more cash out of the club" or "staying? U joking?".

If he goes home to surf with mates he isn't a serious footballer.

Freo are a disaster. West Coast don't need him, and he doesn't strike me as someone who wants to compete for top dog claim (which he will have to do playing with Kennedy)

He is more likely to leave for another Melbourne team for success and/or money. Since I can't see anyone capable of paying him more than us (not significantly anyway), I hope that he can be confident in our success going forward and stays on. The better we keep playing, the more chances he will stick around.

and he is a 98% chance of getting eaten by sharks in WA ,as well as becoming a Bike gang member, possible murderer.

If sending Dee supporters on a downer was a bannable offence, half the posters here would be banning themselves from life.

If Jesse is a crow supporter then surely the chance to play under one the crows greatest ever players in Goodwin for a couple of years is a enticing prospect?

Can only asume the source is someone close to the Pres. and that Jesse approved its the disclosure. It suggests that he is trying to shut down conjecture and we are the likely end result. Of course the club needs some certainty before it commits to other trade decisions.

that just about sums up the glass half full / glass half empty interpretation continuum associated with this!  No original source material - just a perspective on the Fox Sports interview.

For me (and I'm a glass half full guy on this particular topic), the key was where he hesitated slightly and quickly added "or whatever the case may be".

I've thought for some time that our risk is not in losing Jesse to WA (Freo or West Coast).  It is losing him to another Victorian club who are going places.  Fortunately the Dogs and Saints have their hands full in terms of competing young teams.  That leaves the perennial (Hawthorn), the smokey (Geelong - if they axe Clarke and figure that the game is passing Hawkins by) and the rank outsider (Pies).

On a side note can't remember who said it but The Age now has our correct logo on it.

Funni though cause as soon as someone on here brought it up it was a day or so later that it was changed.

Demonland is a gold mine for papers and journos! We do there jobs for them.

It's a [censored] quote, really. He's just saying it to cover his arse, because the whole "go home" factor is emasculating and is frowned upon more now than it was 10-15 years. A guy like him, he'd never admit to wanting to go home. He'll play it as wanting to be in a competitive club.

Really?

Someone on here said that Bartlett told them we weren't trading Hogan. The journo probably got that bit from here. And the quotes are just ripped out of the fox interview. Also describes McCarthy as a goal sneak which suggests the journo knows nothing about footy and is too lazy to write 'cam mccarthy' into google.

I find that scenario impossible to believe.  Sounds like "Scully to Richmond" to me.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
