People aren't going to like this, but Petracca reminds me a lot of Jimmy Toumpas. A rich man's Toumpas. Slow but with good disposal.

If this is at the MCG,as it should be,we win easily. Absolute joke. Why is the roof closed? AFL may as well give the four points to the Saints.

FFS sort ya stupid zone up Jade Rawlings!

EXACTLY. Salem has been on him too... Whist in charge of this defensive rabble? We know they can defend, I suspect we are being out coached.

We are playing like fIogs. Trying to handball our way through all the traffic, absolutely getting smashed on the outside. Tmac is gettinga hiding of Roo, i dont care about the Zone, FOOKIN PLAY SOME FOOKER ON REIWOLDT FFS!!!!!

[censored] hell, first Boomer Harvey and now Riewoldt. These guys could literally be 70 years old and still carve us up. Why isn't anyone playing near Riewoldt?

Half time of his first game (with double digit disposals no less) and Petracca has already been called the new Toumpas. Don't ever change Demonland.

Geezus, you have gone a bit early there havent you?

I waited a whole half of footy! That's longer than most Melbourne supporters wait for.

Bugg needs to be dropped, his handballing is hot potato stuff just get it away from me. CP5 very underwhelming on debut, back to Casey to learn how to pick up the ball and take the first option. Jack Watts of old is back. We need Oliver back

Its stupid and i hate it. Several times i have seen Jetta manning Reiwoldt.. WTF

Dunn and McDonald need a kick up the arse, pathetic defensive effort. I mean we also went in with two kids and they're struggling down back with the pressure.

Midfield is getting a smashing and as soon as Saints have the ball we are 10 meters behind.

It is looking ominous. I can see us getting belted unless we start dominating the clearances again.

Hogan is a bit alright tho.

Wagner, Hunt, Lamumba and Harmes - stop fumbling.

Please put a player on Reiwoldt.

Petracca, Vince, Tyson - handball at first option.

Please put a player on Reiwoldt.

Watts and Pedo - you are allowed to mark when the ball hits your hands.

Please put a player on Reiwoldt.

You dont have to stand still at a ball up, you are allowed to move.

PLEASE PUT A PLAYER ON REIWOLDT.

Mate im usually the first person on here to say how rubbish we are, but we are only 2 goals down at half time. 2 down when playing rubbish. We can still win this if we respond after the break.

Riewoldt has just worked out that we're playing zone defence, so he just puts himself in the "zone" of Jetta, Salem or Jones. Pretty easy to figure it out, but when they figure it out, we need to adjust. And we haven't.

And don't get me started about playing someone loose in defence.

This is our Achilles heel - when an oppo coach works out how to stifle our game, we don't seem to be able to respond, in the box or on the field.

Calling Petracca a rich man's Toumpas is not like calling him Cale Morton. Toumpas is still getting games. I'm comparing the two based on their playing style. Remember Jack Viney's first game? He looked amazing. Petracca simply looks promising.

A bit of history on me. I was a Toumpas defender right up until his trade. I still think he'll make a good footballer. Petracca's better than Toumpas already.

Demonland never change indeed!

Getting destroyed by Riewoldt one one good leg for the 2nd year in a row.

Maybe that was our bad quarter....here's hoping.

I felt this way during the Essendon game, but the good quarter never came. Mark my words, this is a repeat performance of that atrocity.

Need some serious scrutiny here over selection if players are this flat after a 5.5 day break; Blind Freddy could've seen Hunt/Wagner being exhausted, and add a debutant in Petracca to that combination and it's seriously lethal... in a bad way. Oliver would've been bloody handy after his 11 day break.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
