Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

They don't really have a ball-winning inside midfielder in their team at all compared to our side which is loaded with them....if we can't get first use and therefore win this game easily it'll be shattering.

They wouldn't want to ball to go past our centre line either. F me that backline of theirs is disgusting.

Still terrified of losing.

I was too but perversely I would be confident of beating them at full strength. Its our mental demons that are the issue ....

Not sure they have much choice, he was one of their best on the weekend

Absolutely but it should be a long game for the flogs, especially with a Parish.

Ah f them, hope be bash the suitcase out of them and the G is half empty at halftime.

I'm outraged! How could they have dropped Frost and left Pedo in? All Pedo did was get in the way last week. I must email Roosy immediately. ??

I like the changes. Essendon only really has Daniher as a tall forward (they dropped McKernan too) so we've added extra run whilst Frost was offering little at CHF anyway.

I suspect Dunn and/or Frost will be pushing for a recall next week with North's much bigger and more potent forward line, but we've done the right thing this week IMO.

It's all about the start. If we can put quick goals on the board early and build up a nice lead by quarter time I think any adrenaline and/or optimism that they have before the match will fade and we should be able to close it out from there. If we let them start well, though, I still have that lingering feeling in the back of my mind...

Is it that Dunny's coming back from a niggle and underdone or is he fit and firing but can't get in? Or a bit of both?

Gut feel says there's some other issue other than form Moon. Too good/reliable/experienced to be left out before the likes of Frost/Omac at this point in his career. It could also be match ups and team balance at selection table. I'm sure Dunny will be back at some point. I said last week that he might need to recharge a little after leading the backline under so much pressure for last few years. It might also be his choice at the moment as he might be mentally shot who knows. How does he look at training i wonder?

As I have been out of the country sailing the 7 seas for the past 6 weeks this will be my first live match I will get to watch for the year.
Got the missus to put some beers in the fridge, got my demons top waiting for me at home, got my bets on and am going to hopefully enjoy my first game of the year with a really nice record win ov over 10 goals.

Happy to see Heritier in, I think he will have a solid game, and will be a great start to the year for Gussy B, Jack Watts will kick 4+ and Gawn will top the Supercoach score with 40+ hitouts and 150+ supercoach points.

Really confident about the changes.

Frost plays a role that would be beneficial but nowhere near to a standard to continue bothering at the moment.

I like that they are not forcing it - sign of a honest match committee to abandon it one game in.

Pedersen can back up Gawn and removing Frost allows him more room to attract the footy, a bloke, and create space for Hogan.

Look forward to H creating off half back. Keep things bold back there.

I'm concerned about the Gus selection. A little too early given the nature of the injury? I'll leave this in the hands of the experts of course but i thought early reports had him out for at least 4 weeks to be sure.

I'm sure they wouldn't risk him if he wasn't right, he played in the match sim last week so fitness wise he's good to go.

He has been out of the side for almost 6 weeks now.  He did the entire pre-season so he has a good fitness base, and he got through a full practice match and an intra club as well.  The club wouldn't play him if they weren't confident.

It does make  you wonder.  Dropped as Vice Captain out of the leadership group altogether with barely a murmur.  Emergency for the last two weeks, so probably fit to play, but not the automatic inclusion many of us thought he would be. I suspect there are some off field issues atm.

Hopefully Lumumba shows us a bit more of why we got him over, bit of run and carry should go really well with our game plan at the minute.

Predictions..

Tyson to bounce back to his best and have 30 touches and a goal

Bernie Vince to tag Goddard out of the game but also have a bit of the ball himself

Jeff Garlett to kick 8

Christian Salem to have his best game in red and blue

James harmes to get 20 odd touches and a couple of goals and give us back to back wins and back to back rising star nominations

In fairness to them, their centre line looks OK..

Goddard    Zaharakis    Merritt

the rest is rubbish.

would have thought Parish was a long way off being able to compete on the inside with any of our mids.

goddard slow,  zaharakis is a winger, small.  merrit don't know.

We have to go in hard in this game & show the bummers what for.   Now is the time to set a new example of the physical Demons.  Just not get reported boys..

Bang them up...  set a new standard for this bruise-free Demon outfit.  And what better team to start on but the bummers.   Sticking to our game plan,  but when the opportunity to hurt them comes,,,  do it.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
