Surprised this is news;  don't get me wrong, it is great that they are doing this sort of thing but wouldn't 17 other clubs be doing similar things?  Just sayin..

I don't think they do, do they? Do the Hawks ever do altitude training? I like the idea of mixing it up but I get the feeling while this is great for first year players this is more directed at a handful of senior players who still don't get it. We as a team are still mentally weak and don't understand the need to come mentally switched on to play every week. The games against Carlton and Essendon said it all.

Who exactly is secretly camp?

Lots of blokes, including tradies and footy players, according to my gay mate.

Most Green voting inner urban trendies and whale rollers as well I'd wager.

Yes BA isn't it funny that when you have upwards of 10 elite AFL footballers on your list who have been doing it for over 10 years, you don't need altitude, heat training or sleep deprivation stuff. Funny you just know how to in the ball and importantly you exactly where you team mates will be in traffic. You need to be fit but  if you control the ball for much of the game you usually look fit. If you are chasing all day you usually look unfit, despite your altitude and heat training!

Funny? It's called being accountable. It comes down to accountability and trust.

Fair call, do we know what they're doing now or what the Bulldogs are doing? Did it work against Port in that they were over-trained and burnt out?

I think our culture is still weak but getting better. I think we're 12 months away from real depth on our list, but I can't put a time frame on accountability. Senior players either through lack of skill or effort set a poor example, I'm talking about Grimes, Dawes, Watts, Garland, Dunn, H, Garlett. The ones who can play turn up about 8 times a year, the ones who lead can't play the game. Great teams have the advantage that if 5-6 players are having an off day there's enough talent out there to pick up the slack. We are now in a position where the majority of our better players are 23-24 or younger. By better I don't just mean their footy skills but more so their mental application. Until their body's fill out we can't expect to make finals.

Maybe even halfway house hustlers.

You're thinking of the Park Hyatt.

We don't label people at the Gatwick-never enough time.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
