Hobartians don't like Launceston's period

it's not quite that bad, bit of rivalry is natural, but not many would travel the 200km (2.5 hrs) each way

North have 42,000 members? Wow. I wouldn't have thought there'd be more than 35,000 North, even in years that they've been playing finals.

They are dumb [censored] and many of them probably pay twice.

Those 42,000 Nought Members is the sum total of all their supporter base in the known universe..

that is it. As the city of Melbourne increases in population Nought should get smaller.

We represent Melbourne...

Hard to, imagine what it might be had we beaten the Dogs. Alas I fear that, even if we annihilate the Lions it will have negligible impact by comparison. We need to beat the form sides (such as a repeat of crushing the Cats at Skilled Stadium)!

Exactly. Blundstone arena ( Hobart) capacity 16K.  Aurora stadium ( Launceston) capacity 21K.

If you are a Tasmanian who wants to see AFL in your home town, you will buy a membership to North or Hawthorn to guarantee you will get in the gate.

They are aiming for 45k at Norf, seriously they are doing an amazing job pokies free. They will have debt down to around $1m if they can hit 45k. They have a relatively new Arden st, a Norf community venue and playing deep into finals. Something to aspire to.

Just signed a colleague in Rome up, basically she couldn't back out after the Richmond win. (She started the season saying MFCSS, but admitting any sort of love for the club was a mistake, I have hounded her since (and inferred that her contract renewal depended on it.)) I have a couple of seppos in BKK I'm working on too.

I think they have over 5,000 in Tassie.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that. Club must be working the phones.  That's an increase of 564 in the past week. The previous week's increase was only 336.

We will definitely crack 39,000 now. The question is how close to 40,000 we are going to get.

Go Dees.

Geez thats a fair effort

Will go past 39k easily on Monday, maybe even Sunday.  Assuming we win of course. 40k is still a possiblity.

If they start stalling in the race to hit 40k I'll be buying an additional membership to add to the numbers (digital membership maybe?) It's more of a psychological barrier than anything else, to be able to say you've tipped over 40k is an achievement, looks better when marketing yourself to sponsors and gets more people thinking they'll jump on to join the ride. All going well if we start to hit our straps over the next few years I can't see any reason why we wouldn't be able to use this as a base and target 50k members which would be a massive achievement for the club.

Nb. Does anyone know whether they break it down to "unique" members? For instance if I buy 3 memberships, when going out to sponsors they obviously won't care if we've got 40k members if it's only 30k unique members.

Rehabbing: Great to see Kentfield back (much slimmer), walking with Tholstrup, TMac (suspect just a management thing), Viney (still being cautious with that rib cartilage?), Melksham (

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
