A bit sad to hear, from reading here a head knock has contributed to this decision.

His highlights package as junior is as good as any but that leg injury probably ruined any chance he ever had, but we will never know.

Incidentally he's exactly the kind of player we need right now, just shows how important getting it right on draft day is.

It's not the leg injury that ruined his career. Whether the club contributed to his bad attitude or not we'll never know, but his head was never in the right place to be a professional footballer.

We were the wrong club at the time for Blease. I would be confident that, had he been drafted now by the club, he would have had a better chance at building his tank and become a damaging player for us.

Unfortunately he came to the club at it's darkest time, and for a player who lacked confidence and that extra drive to succeed, it was a recipe for disaster.

All the best to him for the future.

Crepe attitude.

Still he kicked five goals in an AFL game which is something all of us have never done.

Not yet anyway. Still hoping to get picked up at the age of 30.

never built a tank and couldn't run both ways. Two pretty important traits for a footballer.

Not sure whether he was 'coachable' either...

Sooked about not able to play Roosy's defensive game plan then talks himself up how he would fit perfectly into Geelongs style.

Turn it up sam..

Doesn't know what hard work means he just all expected to happen for him. [censored] attitude and poor work ethic..

You only have your self to blame bleasy.. Welcome to the real world now.

Sad if it ended because of concussion, but otherwise agree with you 100%. Some of the crap he was talking on his way out last year was ridiculous.

Came to this rabble, snapped his leg, he never had a chance to even try to adjust his attitude given he's retired from head knocks

Kind of a bit sad for Bleasy, I had very high hopes for him when drafted. Looked a million dollars in the highlights from the TAC footage but I guess it's a totally different game when you go pro.

The moment he broke his leg was the beginning of his back luck.

24 and retired and 30 odd games. Pretty disappointing for him im sure.

That being said, he was given plenty of opportunity and never really took it.

He was a poor pick from square one.

Played barely more than a couple of games that justified a game the following week.

Just one of the numerous bad picks.

That's more than Mat Jones ever has. I know now that every time Mat is picked we're going to get thrashed. I don't get it how they keep going back to him. Admittedly live cattle stocks have been low recently but we'd be better off starting with 23 players.

How does that make Blease worth a bumper?

The kid broke his leg in a schoolboy misshap just after getting drafted. Talk about bad omens!!!

Enough said...The perfect reason one must question a players attitude sometimes more than Natural Ability when drafting young players

Sam Blease is the opposite to Daniel Menzel..

I'm not sad for Blease, but sad we wasted another top 20 draft pick.

He got his pace back after the broken leg, so that wasn't an issue.

He had no tank or any appetite for the contest.

Not up to it.

Thought the same thing. His footage as a junior was fantastic. I was thrilled when we secured him in the draft. Good luck Sam.

Shockingly one dimensional. Had nothing to do with the club. Two coaches in Neeld and Roos tried to force defensive accountability onto him and he just couldn't adapt. A great attacking player but that's it.

Would have been great for us if we were a good side. A downhill skier of the highest order.

Sadly, yet another of the passing parade who flirted with our hopes of seeing a gun recruit coming to the club, but never bringing it to fruition. Very sad.

I wish him well in whatever life holds next for him...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
