Gave this bloke a wack yesterday for continuing to push Trengove while he had fracture symptoms in his foot. And now he is paying the price for that insipid decision.

Anyway should we start asking questions? When he started with Neeld he said it would take 3 seasons to get us up to scratch. Yet when i look now we are still struggling to play a 4 qtr game.. We are not running hard and our effort to spread hard is deplorable.

Very surprised he hasn't come under heat.

Misson is a fitness expert, but he is NOT a doctor. It is the club doctor's job to diagnose injury. It is Misson's job to design fitness programmes for players based on his best understanding of their bodily condition.

Either way you look at it though, he's failing.

He has had enough time now to make an impact.

Our players looked they were on Ether in that first half. So slow.

Has a lot to answer to, as do many others.

Dazzle, I have been calling Misson no good for years... every time I bring it up people seem to jump down my throat.

He has been a complete disaster for the MFC. I pray he leaves the club at the end of the season.

I have never questioned him until recently. Our Fitness is still pathetic. I only look at sides like Port, St Kilda and even the doggies and they just seem to run games out btter then us. And they all have a younger list then melbourne ffs

So fitness is the reason so haven't been able to run out each of the first two quarters on only to improve in the second half?

Misson is useless. Get rid of him.

Personally am not convinced this bloke is the "guru" he's attributed with.

seems we have injuries of curious nature.

but for mine coaches are seemingly more adverse in affect than Misson.

I don't know whether Misson is doing a good job ATM or not, but I laugh hysterically at posts like this from people who wouldn't know jack [censored] about sports science, have no inside knowledge or involvement in the club and turn like a dime when we win or we lose. I understand the emotion of the day, it was a terrible loss and I too am angry. But labelling a specialist that has had the runs on the board at other clubs for many years "no good", a "complete disaster" and wishing him to leave is just plain pathetic and shows how shallow some people think.

Hands down he needs to go. Our player conditioning has been third world since he joined. We havn't had one 4 quarter performance all year. Our players can't run out games. Wtf are we paying this guy for?

As I've stated elsewhere, my issue with Missen from the times I've been to training (now about 15 sessions this season) is that we don't seem to work on our raw speed, which needs to be done in tandem with our aerobic work.

Missen often given the guys 400m rep work, which is the norm these days.

The Dogs have even taken it a step further and got Craig Mottram in for sessions, especially pre-season, and these will involve some pretty high quality reps - Gammoudi style.

But what we also need for several of our players is speed technique work.

Four of the five quickest guys this season came from other clubs - Garlett, Frost, Lamumba and Vandenburg (albeit from ACT). The fifth is Watts and he still lacks aerobic ability.

The Swans got Matt Shirvington in to do specialist speed sessions and it would be great if we employed a speedwork guru - obviously Shirvo wouldn't come down for the year, but he might come for a couple of weeks to show our fitness coaches his recommended techniques.

Quite obviously Toumpas, Newton, Trengove, Salem and Tyson are in urgent need of a sprint guru.

But sprint work is just part of the process.

It needs to be backed by endurance reps - 8x400m, 5x1000m etc.

I was on Misson's side, but the ongoing effort levels of younger lists like the Dogs and Saints definitely indicates that our fitness department simply isn't up to scratch. The "they're young and tired" excuse simply doesn't float with me when you watch the Bulldogs taking on top 4 teams with ease.

I think Misson overated.

But he's probably ok....just not a miracle worker.

Not the Messiah....

Port get a new fitness coach at are in the top 8 the next season.

We get a new fitness coach and still can't get out of the bottom 4 four years later.

This guy worked with the Saints and Sydney when they were at there best but Maybe his methods are out dated now.

You can teach them to run but you can't force them to run hard both ways or start next to their men.

I don't know if he knows what he is doing but our players don't seem out of puff at any time, they just seem lazy.

When we get caught it tends to be about positioning and the same when they seem to run past us.

I'm sorry, but it's not rocket science to get a person up and running at elite fitness.

This is not a Misson problem. Looking for one scapegoat is not the answer. It's a broader cultural problem and until those that epitomise that culture are gone,it will persist.

We can't keep killingthe careers of innocents who have no control over things like effort and desire.

We do not need a new fitness guru, just an alarm clock set for the start of the game.

Our injuries haven't been too bad and we've ran out some games well, the fact is we don't run in to games so how can we tell if we run out of them!

I'm worried about the lack of muscle on some of our senior guys and the lack of strength of pretty much the whole team, but I still think it's mainly mental.

Not his best day today but I still think pound for pound Nathan Jones can serve it up to any AFL player with his combination of endurance, a good burst of speed and strength.

Tom McDonald needs a lot of work as a player and to improve his speed off the mark and agility, but he'll keep running as much as anyone in the league.

Our best are fit enough. Some of our young kids really gut run and keep providing effort (Hogan, Brayshaw, Stretch).

As with all things Melbourne I worry more about why we can't get more players following the standards and stepping up.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
