So long as we don't over pay for him it's a yes for me

I have question marks over his durability

Interesting.

He's younger (24), taller (190cm) and lighter (82kg) than I thought he was.

Numbers are very similar to in-form Dom Tyson -

Lots of tackles, lots of clearances. All-round good on 1%ers, rebound 50s and inside 50 stats for a general-purpose midfielder.

Most impressively, he's been super-consistent season by season for five years already.

Definitely worth investigating. Obviously wouldn't give pick 5, but our second pick plus a player of moderate value (can't think of any right now... ) would seem a reasonable trade for a want-away.

I think it would take pick 5. Would I give it? Probably not, but he is worth more than a 2nd round pick. Maybe we float Howe as bait, and add something to that. But I doubt a second round pick alone would get the deal done. Collingwood apparently wanted Redden in the Beams trade last year (instead of Crisp), but Brisbane were very quick to knock that on the head. Obviously Redden is highly rated, which suggests Brisbane will want overs for him.

Another Jack? There's too many to keep up with at the club now!

But yes. Get him.

Brisbane must have the smell of Death...The arrogant way they dragged Fitzroy's casket up North i shall never forget (I remember some Faceless Corporate President Laughing about the deal he had secured during the Press Conference)

What was in the Juice they were all shot with back when Thug Matthews was head hunted??

Pity WADA was yet to be born...i doubt the 3peat would have eventuated.

No Sympathy as the players walk except it will cost us $$$ and players for many years...

Has just informed the Lions he wishes to be traded at seasons end.

What is he worth? And would you want him?

Yes.

Like, just yes.

Is he worth pick 5?

Maybe it is slightly overs but the benefit of immediate day one impact of a career peak midfielder to the MFC list may be worth more to us than just his usual market value.

I'd consider pick 5 for Redden with a sweetener in return (their second round for our 3rd round? Their second round for our 2016 2nd round - which gives us more power to tiebreaker the list over this year).

They are going to want players though, with all the defections. And they have cap space. Straight swap for Howe?

I'd take him. He'd be an improvement on what we have right now. That's all we really need to know. Obviously don't pay a first round pick for him, but if he'd be a walk-up start in our first 18 then take him.

I don't think they would accept that deal...but it helps that Howe can play at both ends..I wonder what is the bigger loss and to which club...I would do that deal in a heartbeat.

Howe and a 3rd rounder overs?

Howe and a 3rd rounder overs?

That might be a hard sell to Howe.

I am not sure he want to go to a club that is worse than the Dees.

If the options were the Lions or the Dees I know which one I would take.

A fully fit Bears midfield is miles better than ours.

That they finished last this year has more to do with their injuries during the year than anything.

They're going to want picks to pick up academy selections - some of their options on Queensland players are genuinely talented.

Players will have far less value for Brisbane, Sydney and GWS. Possibly gc17 too

Straight swap for Howe? Helps them with their forward issues and adds more depth to our midfield.

I always had a feeling that Brisbane were the team offering Howe big $$$... would be great the MFC if that trade eventuates

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
