POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 18

Great to see the coloured arm-bands and Jones' reaction when he kicked that goal.

Was Varcoe the only C'wood player with one?

Yes, but that doesn't mean they all weren't behind Goodes.

It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer won't wear the AIDS ribbon. Just because he chooses not to wear it doesn't mean that he doesn't support the cause as much as everyone else, and I'm sure this is the same with the Pies.

Proud of my club to do what they did though.

So this season so far we have wiped the smirk off that Scott boofhead from Geelong along with his arrogant players dedwood and FIGJAM Johnson, today it was Bucks turn and I only hope we can continue the trend next week and wipe the smirk off that twin buffoon Scott from NM next week.

Would love to c that.

Absolutely loved it it. And then felt sad he wasn't grabbing his jumper and showing it to the world.

Enjoyed Harmes first goal.

He was really aggressive and made and impact as the sub and that's all u can do as the sub.

Well done

You didn't enjoy it as much as he did.

"Of course Queen's Birthday is Melbourne's Grand Final, the poor dears". Sick of hearing that.

Well, looks like it was Collingwood's Grand Final, as they've only one 1 out of 7 since - obviously a big letdown after building themselves up against the D's.

Yes! Then there's this from the Herald Sun:

This followed Richmond and Western Bulldogs wearing their indigenous jerseys, while some players such as Collingwood’s Jeff Garlett wore armbands of the Aboriginal flag.

Whilst I haven't seen much from Harnes to get excited about, I think this is one of the rare times we've got the sub right. Your more athletic running types is the way to go, not the in and under plodders who come on and there's no athletic running types to get it out to.

Hopefully Roos has seen the light, right before they get rid of the stupid fuckin rule.

I agree he gave us something when he came on. His goal was handy and he took a nice grab in the final minutes.

Id be more happy if we could beat nth next week than todays win. We havent beat nth in a long time and im sick of them thrashing us. They don't respect us and they know when they take the field against us they will win. We owe them and Id love to beat them to knock the smiles off scott, harvey and there fans,

Gawn v Goldsetin will be a great contest next week.

If people are still saying it's our Grand Final it just goes to show that they are dimwitted sheep. Don't know if they've noticed, but it's been a fair while since Collingwood have played in a Grand Final either.

He competes. He wins or splits most of those contests. He hustles, has decent disposal, and while he doesn't get a stack of it just yet I think we have a player on our hands. Big effort in the last quarter to help get us over the line.

HS must think we have a wealth of capable midfielders to relegate Bernie to third. Hogan helped but . . .

Thats exactly what they think Skuit

"One of the most pleasing aspects of this six-goal win against a team desperate to keep its finals hopes alive was that it showcased Melbourne’s midfield depth.

Jack Viney, Nathan Jones, Angus Brayshaw and Dom Tyson all won their fair share of hard ball, while Bernie Vince not only had the better of Magpies’ skipper Scott Pendlebury but also did some damage as an attacking force, kicking three goals."

A great win, yes Collingwood were not the best but still was a good win. We showed some real skill at times. I think Grimes problem is that he does not get rid of the ball quick enough, does not take the first option which results in him getting run down and tackled and giving rubbish handballs, etc... Still he needs a little more time to settle to see if he improves until Salem or some other pushes for his spot. Dawes was reasonably good, hard at the ball which is what we need, we need to opposition worrying about getting whacked or tackled hard. He is still relatively young and can improve as can the side in general, I see no real need to dump him, there are a lot of others who would be going before he does.

Brayshaw is an absolute champ, his running dash and disposal into our attacking 50 was sensational again.

Hopefully the win today will fuel the self belief needed for this team to rise.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
