Was just interviewed on channel 7 about his MND.. It makes me sad to say this but his conditions has gotten really worse and he sounds awful.

I was such a big fan of the Reverend that even to this day we played some exciting and daring footy during his era in what was just a yo yo journey.

Thought are with the Rev and his family.

The body might be failing but gee the spirit is still Strong! Great interview with Tim in that respect.

Funny, I saw some footage of his playing days a while ago and felt weird about it. Didn't seem right seeing him in that horrible black and red jumper. He was just finishing up as a player when I took an interest.

The Neale I knew wore MFC gear, and coached in finals. I love the man and am truly sad to see that he is struggling so badly, all while so relatively young still.

Sure is an absolute bugger of a disease. Didn't watch these interviews but it must be so hard for and especially those close to him knowing where it is heading.

They are doing a fund raising for his MND foundation.

Starting Queens Birthday game.

The first $10,000 raised gets Tim Watson dunked in the ice.

I presume that for every $10,000 raised another celeb. gets dunked.

When we find out the details what about we start a collection to go towards the foundation?

That news makes me want to pledge twice. Once for the disease, and once to contribute to getting Tm Watson dunked in ice.

The nosy vicar Damien Barrett used his trite 'sliding doors' space on AFL.com to tell the Dogs they should never let a player with three knee injuries take the field again.

Neale Daniher took to the field, was excellent, then went on to prove himself to be a resilient and effective coach at one of the most complex and disorganised clubs in the game. The exact opposite of 'walk away from anything difficult' Barrett.

And now he stands up for himself and other sufferers of motor-neuron disease, still with the same positive attitude calling for practical help and work to overcome the problem, not for pity and some disingenuous 'compassionate exile' from society.

As others have said, the voice might tremble but the fine man is still there.

Yes it was a really sad interview and what a shocking disease but the Reverend came through in true style and shining colors. What a totally gutsy effort from the man to highlight the disease and try and do something about it. Well done Neil, a true champion.

ND you are an inspiration and my heart goes out to you. You are one tough hombre mate and brought many a smile to my face during the finals in 2000.

Sat a couple of rows in front of him in the MCC a couple of weeks back. He looked the same as I remember him, but I didn't catch him on 7 tonight. Loved him as coach.

I met him when I was 13. Honestly don't think I've met a friendlier bloke, just had a massive grin, firm handshake and seemed genuinely happy to talk to a young fan.

Shattering to see what he's going through. He still maintains a sense of humour and positive attitude, thoughts are with him and his family.

Genuine all round true blue bloke. Timmy chose one Mr. G Lyon for the next freeze challenge at the G on QB weekend against the pies. They showed gazza getting called out by Timmy and Gazz was stoked! Very sad to see him like this but if we can all get behind his cause I think the Rev's sprits wld lift a little. One thing you could never question with Neil was his g&d and he sure showed an immense amount of it tonight.

Head to www.freezemnd.com if u wld like to help out the cause

Neale's era at the club gave me some of my best memories as a Melbourne supporter: the rise from bottom to top 4 in 1998 (and again in 2000), Woey's Brownlow, the comeback win against Carlton in the 2000 qualifying final, Wiz's 9 second half goals against Collingwood, the 3 in a row that got us to September in 2005. Hell, I even remember Robbo going ballistic against Collingwood at the G in 2007 to pull us over the line (and there was a brief flicker of hope that ND could pull us out of the fire yet again).
It's gutting to see what is happening to the man but it's heartening to see how dignified he is.

I believe it's bloody telling that Neale is a life member at our club when he played at another one. We have had coaches who never won the ultimate that are life members but many of them played with the club beforehand. Neale, despite his critics, kept the place from falling to pieces (as it has on numerous occasions since he left).

ND Love the man

This is why we need stem cell research

But with religious doorknobs like Tony Abbott running this land we do not even have a science minister...Makes me fcuking Angry

wouldn't a health minister be responsible for medical research, wyl?

you shouldn't let your abc politics interfere with common sense

i was referring to the CSIRO actually. I am sure a health minister is briefed. Abbott was a Health Minister once.

My ABC employment has nothing to do with my opinions on Religion stifiling Scientific Research which is exactly what it tries to do

3D Printing of body parts is coming. The churches of all religions better get used to it

Thanks ND for the hope you gave the supporters during your time as our coach. I will never forget your last game as our leader - I sobbed for hours that Friday night.

I wish you and your family all the best and hope we can find a cure for this horrendous disease sooner than later.

Our club has had so much tragedy over the last decade, starting with Broadbridge then Sean Wight, Jimmy, Robbie, Bailey and now Daniher. FFS what the [censored] did we do wrong??

Was a little shocked to see how quickly he has deteriorated since the last time he was on telly. Got a mate who's dad was diagnosed around the same time and they have progressed quite differently. Neale's has really affected his speech which apparently means his is moving quicker and will cause problems with swallowing soon.

Garry Lyon kept plugging the #freezemnd on triple M yesterday and so far they've raised over 120k over the weekend and will be good to see a lot of AFL names go down the big ice slide on Queens Birthday

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
