Was contemplating end of year trades, the return of Trenners and Petracca, another year of Roo's coaching and draft/trading...

... and wondered who thinks we can crack the finals next season, Roos last as our coach?

and why / why not?

I like your optimism with trenners but I think his playing days are over.

We are a decent mobile ruckman short, 2-3 midfielders short, pace and an upgrade on our skills from being considered a finals chance

It's far too early to tell. Games like this Friday, and how we perform away from Melbourne and against the likes of Hawthorn and Sydney, not to mention mid-range teams like North, Adelaide, Port etc will tell us a lot.

I think it is possible. We would need some injury luck, some natural improvement from most of the younger players and the older players to maintain their current abilities. Of course it would be great to recruit one younger player from another team (GWS etc.) to further improve our chances for next year.

Even the Adelaide match shows we had chances & maybe if we had of had another 12 months of playing together some of those sillier mistakes (us kicking to a 2v1 in our favor and kicking it to their 1 sort of stuff, or JKH getting run down etc) would not happen as much.

What we still need:

1) another 2 b+ midfielders (trade/draft/Petracca)

2) Ruckman to replace Jamar (be it at the end of this year or next). Gawn has the talent and height, but reminds me of an under performing jack watts at times.

3) Chris Dawes to have a fantastic marking year (or another forward).

Go Dees :)

At my age I have seen so many false dawns, that I won't allow myself to get over excited until September 2016 at the earliest.

But, yes, given some luck and another off season of good recruiting than who knows?

Man this club has really done a number on us supporters. There is no reason for anyone to be writing us off for finals NEXT YEAR already, we've only just started this year. Who knows, what if we have a good run in the back end of this season winning 8 or so games (our run homes decent)? Not out of the realms of possibility. Stay positive people we're on the right track now.

Watts for Aish

Pick 3 on aggressive utility

Aish, Brayshaw , Viney, Salem, Toumpas, Tyson, Petracca, Trengove

Midfield is looking ok..

I think we've finally got some real talent in the club so another good trade/draft period should set us up for a run at finals in 2016.

I actually think if we beat Richmond and manage to beat collingwood twice and hopefully get one back on a depleted eagles unit..

We could sneak in this year?

Any beleivers?

No.

We simply don't have the skill to match it with half the sides in the AFL.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
