Still can't believe the way he tackles, those skinny arms just don't look as if they should be able to hang on, but they do. I wonder what he'll be like when he's in a man's rig and not a boy's.

He's significantly improved in the 10 games he's played, too. Super excited and happy with this player.

It's all in the technique, he tackles with his body and not just his arms.

The thing i love about him, is at this point in time he's a very good player, 10 games in, if he didn't improve one bit, hes still better the 3/4 of the list. A few preseasons into his tank, hes going to be a general for us in the middle! Love him

Fantastic news. Future Captain in one of my son's opinions. Could be right. He has got a steely look with his second ups!

Yeah I really liked this. Missed the shot but then gut run to make sure he impacted the next contest.

He does this automatically. Jimmy T needs to take a leaf out of Gus's book, don't drop your head when you make a mistake, win the ball back. Very RDB - "If it's going to be, then it's got to be me"

Brayshaw nomination for round 10 is confirmed.

It was actually announced last night. I am not sure I have ever seen a nominee from the 'late' game before announced so soon after a game. Not sure who is responsible for nominating him but they got it right.

Great job Angus well done.

As soon as he was drafted, I predicted that this kid would Captain the club and that he would be our first 600 gamer.

Now that I've actually seen him play, I feel I was quite conservative in my initial assessment.

In short, he's just got it.

I put the notion forward elsewhere sometime back he is in essence the new 'prototype' for players at the MFC. Youre right, hes just got it...he just gets footy, he's a footballer, not some elite athlete come whatever etc. First and foremost hes a decent footballer( and hell get better..woohoo )

This kid actually knows what you do with the footy when you get it...he just knows. Refreshing isnt it :roos:

Like he can't be both? In my opinion he is a footballer and an elite athlete.

Probably a three horse race for the rising star at the moment. Cripps, Hogan and Brayshaw.

Well you can. But weve taken a lot of so-so players who's attributes more more heavily inked in the elite skills and athleticism columns than any real ability to play football

Caro thinks Gus will win it. That'd be good :roos:

Brayshaw and hogan have been great so far, but id have to say cripps would be the front runner

When I watched him train preseason, I saw him butcher kicks and announced on here he wont get a game until June. You could still get 26/1 on him 2 weeks ago for the NAB award. Lucky I did a 180.

Can't think of another kid who just does all the basics extremely well.

So you were wrong?

Unlike most, he comes on here to announce he made an incorrect early call and you pipe up and ask him if he was "wrong" ?

Obtuse

The love between him and Jonesy makes me smile.

I love that Brayshaw, who is already blessed with talent and has the desire, has the likes of Jones, Vince and Cross to learn from. There's a lot of guts, skill, determination and professionalism to sponge up there.

It used to be Moloney and Sylvia...

Brayshaw is and will be a ripper. I don't really see the Cotchin thing at all, maybe the balance, I hope I never see hunched over dinky little safe kicks 10 times a game.

Brayshaw, Salem and Hogan. All have proven they can play, they're all hard as [censored] and all have plenty of skill. Good times.

I will stop backing Brayshaw when he hits $2. That is my NAB betting strategy.

Tim Broomhead takes out round 11. Just about half way through the season and the dees duo Brayshaw and Hogan would have to be close to leading the race for the award with Saad, Cripps and McCarthy impressing and Heeney looking fantastic before injury. I agree with nearly all on here that the award itself is a bit of joke in how it is run/awarded, particularly the weekly nominations, but it does bring some attention to the young guns of the game.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
