Not sure if this has been mentioned and i don't have time to trawl through 49 pages but, I received our membership renewal today and there is an option to have a player of your choice on your membership card. There are 10 to choose from but alas, no Jeremy Howe.

Ominous

no more so than they (and everyone) knew his 2016 status was uncertain until he signed a contract

wouldn't read anything into it

If the Bennell rumors turn out untrue and it's the filth that's Howe's club of choice, the question comes down to suitabe compensation.

Draft Pick not needed and questions surround Kennedy & Seedsman's hardness.

What about Jackson Ramsay? Tough HBF with scope to eventually move into the midfield. A nice kick also.

Played the first 5 or 6 games this year and was going well until he suffered the Sam Frost toe and missed the rest of the year.

But Jack Watts is on there

He's contracted, Howe isn't.

I'd love to have the contract to supply tea to Demonland. The reading of tea leaves here is so popular.

GWS would surely be laughing their heads off right now at this situation. They basically caused it by giving Howe's management a wildly inaccurate representation of his worth when they knew it was too late for the trade to even happen.

Not really the GWS's fault that Howe and his manager believed in the hype, if Howe had played up to expectations then maybe he could have gotten that sort of $$'s but he appears to have rested on his laurels, or rested in the backline and not delivered. His pay packet was in his hands and he fluffed it.

Freeman looks like a poor man's Petracca.

If the Pies want to play I'd suggest Howe for Treloar. ;)

If Howe was part of a big trade, I'd understand letting him go. But if a trade involves a 2nd round pick, why would we be keen to trade him, especially now that he's unlikely to ask for big bucks?

We are crying out for forwards to help Hogan. Dawes is physically shot, and isn't that good. Pedersen is an average footballer. And when Hogan kicked his biggest bag against St. Kilda, Howe was playing up forward. If left as a permanent forward, I'd back Howe to kick 30-40 goals. He kicked 28 in 2013 when we were a basket case.

I wouldn't trade Howe for a 2nd Round Pick, but at the same time if he does stay i wouldn't play him forward either.

Howe's proved to be a lazy forward who lacks work rate, so if he were to stay i'd rather see Howe at half back and Garland thrown forward.

Just my opinion anyway.

One very large problem with this is that the AFL deem we must pay 100% of the salary cap, that means if we pay many less money then we would have to be paying a few heaps.

Give it all to Hoges Stuff Howe who care about that primadonna

Nope, that's too obvious for us here on DL. We need something way more in the shadows than that, how else could we keep up MFCSS and the like?

Is that irony ? or is it possibly Kama... maybe that's the way Mfc supporters feel deep down, about the club as well.

..... that they're always kept in the shadows on the south of things, offside the sunny side of the club ???

just saying.

the negativity starts from somewhere, doesn't it..... could that be that most feel on the outer all the time, Or in the shadows; following this club ?

Howes a spud and so are you the guys worth 390 k a season he's manager is a spud also

Howes that a treble !

I may well be a spud (for what I'm not sure) but I've got a handle on full stops, spelling and the difference between his and he's. Howe's that for a treble!

Which is an excellent place to start to really establish a culture.

WE say Jeremy we are fair dinkum. We are going to be strong for the next 5 -10 years building around a core of players who really want to play for the club and get results that gets us the flag. When we have that success our memberships will increase and our ability to draw sponsors will increase. We are offering you and all our players a low salary based on where we finished on the ladder. If your performance with that of your teammates improves with the above results your salary will be increased.

Its based on performance and if you perform above the level of the Hawks and the Eagles etc we will be able to pay more.

Jesse and others have shown the desire and they will begin with a greater share of the pot. If you want to increase your share you will have to do more.

Thanks Jeremy we are happy to offer you a contract for 6 years at that base level with significant success bonuses. There may even be one for the best mark but it will be linked to conversion from that mark. We will allow you to leave if you are offered more if you improve and we dont, but we reckon with you our team will be able to give all the success you want. Ask the other boys and if you want to share it we will be happy to have you aboard.

We want a great team not just a good one we are putting every resource into that effort and want you to as well.

Get back to us quickly coz pre season starts now.

I don't want to offer him a contract, let alone a six year one. I don't care how much we're paying him. Use whatever market worth he has and improve our midfield.

I actually want to keep him for this reason. He can be out Stevie J. Needs to be pushed along in the right direction. Goes off into the clouds during games and his urgency drops off but he is valuable imo. His first few years remind me a lot of Stevie J.

Possibly the worst poster on Demonland.

I'm not sure about Howe. I posted earlier that a reality check may turn him around but, of course, a great offer would be hard for the club to refuse.

Sorry if someone else has raised this, but Mathew Lloyd on FC Monday night said Jeremy Howe's manager had gone to other clubs and found 'no interest at the price they are asking' and Jumping will probably stay home.

I am happy if he stays but does anyone have any more info?

Should the boy think about ditching his manager for someone who has a clue?

When his manager says Jump.

Howe would be exciting for teams up north trying to draw crowds. We wpuld be exciting with more midfield dash and speed. Simple i say.

I only want those who really want to play for us. He (Howe) seems more interested in howe much he can get.

As some suggest possibly this reality check may reboot his intensity and focus. That said i'd actively facilitate shopping him for someone more 'grounded'.

Just my opinion of course.

Ron Barassi was best practise for chasing the dollar, testing the market and chasing glory and premierships with other clubs. Jeremy Howe finished the season strongly, and has plenty of what this club needs. He is getting better, and a new contract may settle him.

Barassi left. His value wasnt over pitched. Barrasi was the comensurate footballer of his era.

Howe is a 1 and 1/2 trick pony who likes to fly...likes to kick goals...and is a bit of a dab hand at f@@%ing things up.

I see where ya going...but...yeah...NAH

Clubs shop around players every year, so nothing wrong with out of contract players testing the waters, and seeking a big payday. And how many players have joined us recently for the same reason. Do you really think that they "wanted to play for us", or was the almighty dollar the attraction?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
