Nathan Jones has just assured himself of outright club legend status. The 'one club' loyalty he is showing is vastly underrated in this competition, and it speaks to a level of commitment and integrity that goes beyond the ''me, me, me, I want more money, I want premierships, I want to be a star" that we so often see. 3 'blueys', captaincy for the next 4 or 5 years, riding with the club to expected improvement, you are a class act Nathan Jones, and it doesn't go unnoticed.

Agreed Webber. Not sure if Nathan is aware of how much he means to us or how much this means to us, but he's taken up the opportunity to enter a league of beloved that very few players get the opportunity to join. I think it was Chook in Perth who made this point months ago.

I was never in doubt that he'd sign, but I'm still relieved and bloody stoked. Grinning from ear to ear. Love you Jonesy!

I am not across any contract/s but would have thought with the recent departures of Clark and Chip, Dawes into his 3rd year of his contract, Vince and The Prince on decent wickets, lots of kids and comparing our list player for player with the likes of Hawthorn and Sydney we could easily accomodate what Jones is asking and offer huge coin for "insert name".

Phase 1 complete, management has done their numbers. Now for phase 2.

After the last few years when almost everyone that mattered left at the fist chance, it was just such an important signing. One club players like this, at sides (like ours) that are both lower profile and have lower success may become rarer and rarer. Nathan Jones enters a rarefied world at MFC with this....and he restores some of my pride in the joint. Love him.

Well done, Jonesy! A top player for whom Club Loyatly actually means something. One of a diminishing breed!

Very pleased with this, and even more pleased with the attitude of the guy.

Go Dees!

What a star. This bloke should be considered amongst names like Stynes, Neitz, Flower and Barrassi. He is our only A grader and without doubt the heart and soul of this club. I was not a big fan of him being given the captaincy but happy to say I was very very wrong. Jones is a champion. Best news so far next to Roos and PJ extending their contracts.

This bloke deservers to hold a premisership cup up on grand final day and I hope by 2019 he gets to do it.

Bring on 2015, cant wait to see the next evolution under Roos.

Remember when this kid was the whipping boy. This holds a lot of hope for blokes like Watts and Toumpas. With hard work and dedication ANYONE can turn it around.

Anyone who doesn't understand the true importance and value of Nathan Jones, obviously hasn't sat through the past 6 years and watched this man work his arse off to improve individually and to improve our team, every. single.week!

Jonesy, you are a star and you make me proud to be a Melbourne supporter.

Very happy to have you on board for life!

Not by me, never said a bad word about him, just like I never said a bad word about Dunn.

Am I clever or lucky?

I prefer to think clever but there is another train of thought.

If you're including Jones in this talent group, i must disagree with you. Jones was drafted in 2005 and has had 5 years to develop and mature. He's had plenty of time to show us what he's got, he no longer has 'potential' as he should have reached said level by now, if there were improvement left in him. Too little, too late if we're waiting for Jones to 'fully mature'.

So happy I get to see that beautiful bald head running around bleeding red and blue... should develop a new mascot based on him with giant horns.

I think there are a few who posted in this thread who should be feeling a little ashamed... or do they now see his upside as opposed to the downside they were espousing when they had convinced themselves he was gone?

It's a shame some supporters (and I use that term advisedly) can't show the same sort of loyalty and fortitude as our Mr Jones.

Onya Jonesy.

In one fell swoop has cast aside a year of rumour and scuttlebutt and almost single handedly sent a message to not just his own club but all others

We're Melbourne and we're getting bloody serious.

Nice one Chunk :)

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
