Hopefully he still has plenty of zip. I can't believe we basically picked him up for free. It feels great to have a legitimate small forward again.

Potentially a real value get.

If he can get back to his best footy and has good influences around him then he fills a big gap.

Garlett's arrival suggests to me more time by Salem and JKH in the midfield. That's a good thing.

Would guess Garlett going between midfield and half-forward if Roos' comments are any indication.

JKH more as a small forward.

Reasonable line of thinking..Though I read Roosey want to run Jeff through the guts also. Suppose it means we're building a bus load of guys that CAN play through the middle. No more well theres that bloke...and maybe .....:unsure:

A lot of flexibility , a lot of competition for spots......all good :)

I was willing to do a swap of second rounders, but this much better!

Welcome aboard, gives me faith we won't over-pay for another unwanted player, a certain gifted prince.

If Roos can add that inside hardness and selflessness (like he has with NevJet, and the hyphen), then this guy can be special.

Would be good if he can learn to run faster than Dustin Fletcher.

Welcome Jeffy!!

Bargain!

Demons effectively get Jeff Garlett for pick 61 plus a late swap of picks. Super get given he's kicked 40 goals 2 of last 4 years

Kent and JKH say hello.

Wait till the real stories come out about his time at Carlton!

Then we might re-think!

Presumably we weren't looking at having a live pick at 61, so nothing lost. I'd rather have a live pre season draft pick than a fourth round national draft pick, so this is a good result. Hopefully he has sorted his issues out and gets back to the player he was a few years ago. Welcome Jeff and good luck.

If he sucks, we've lost nothing.

My favourite type of trade!

But the upside is potentially high for us. Great trade.

I just think this is very smart recruiting. A genuinely skilful player. If he doesn't make it, we have lost nothing. If he makes it, we have gained plenty.

Jeez, had to check the website to believe it. Bloody cheap forward!

Can we just hurry up and get him into a DECENT jumper :)

I like the fact that he's only 25, potentially a good 5 years plus out of him.

This trade period might be the wake up call he's needed to change his lifestyle.

I think it's a good get.

Have a strong feeling we'll get HL in a three-way. At this stage we still have serious draft picks available for trade. Garlett virtually for free, and a nothing pick to upgrade Nev. Deeply disappointed with this trade period.

Very very pleased to pay so little for him. What were the chances we'd have used pick 61 anyway?

Given he, Kent & JKH probably can't all be in the forward-line at the same time, they're probably looking at giving all three short shifts through the middle, working in tandem. Smart thinking, keeping pressure off the young guys to do entire games in there as they build their engines.

If Garlett gets back to pre-2014 form, he'd be a steal at twice the price we paid. If he doesn't, we're barely out of pocket. That's some great trading.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
