Hoping it's not an ACL but if it is, there's no way known that its career over for Max. He's still young enough and knows what it takes to recover from such an injury. Max Bailey played in a premiership after 3 knee recos and our own Ox won a b & f.

Looks like we will be in the market for an experienced ruckman at trade time. King is raw, Jamar perhaps a year left, Spencer marginal at best injury wise and talent wise.

I know he isn't experienced but could Peter Wright come into fruition in the draft then? Not only can ruck but can find the footy, play forward and is a great kick. Might be a versatile player that could be highly beneficial in the long term.

With the way the game is played in recent years maybe the days of the bean pole ruckmen are over.

Sandilands and Leuenberger spend more time injured than on the field, perhaps we should look to types like Maric, Minson and Martin.

Very disappointing for Max after all he has been through to get on the field and his form has been encouraging.

Best of luck big fella.

If Roos has any say we won't be taking Wright early, it will be a mid unless we trade for experienced mids early and look to pick some talls later in the draft or thru a trade.

Shattering if an ACL was secretly hoping for a big bust out year from Maxi next year, he was going to be completing a pre-preseason with at an up and coming sports science fitness centre.

It getting him so late in the season is another blow as it puts him out for all preseason and most of season, next year would be a total wash for him... MFC happiness.

Have heard from someone close to family that they are hopeful that only a clean out will required which sounds more like cartiledge strain to me, however they won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Let's hope that's all it is as he'd barely miss pre season if that were the case!

At 122kg I wouldn't call Sandilands a 'bean pole' ruckman. Leuenburger is a sturdy 102kg and our own Max is 111kg - again, not a size I'd call 'bean pole'.

They may appear slightly slimmer because they are taller but the players you've mentioned aren't much smaller - 202cm, 199cm and 198cm. In the scheme of things, a few centimetres and kilograms aren't worth much.

At the end of the days Max is just more injury prone than most of the other ruckmen in the league.

Does anyone know how it happened? I have seen any footage of it

He seemingly did it when he knocked back the tap that led to Lynden Dunn's goal. Extremely innocuous incident and didn't seem to be much hyperextension. I was positioned behind the benches last night and I have not seen as dejected a figure leave a ground before though which had me fearing the worst.

"The initial reports from the scans have shown that his ACL is stable but there is damage to his medial meniscus."

From Dees website, so it appears not to be an ACL. But this of course will be confirmed during surgery.

Would be horrifically terrible news if it's a serious knee injury. Gawn's progress this year was one of our few positives. To lose that is to just plunge this season further into nothingness.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
