beverly hills junior football club theme song:

(To the tune of Grand Old Flag)

We’re a Grand young Team

We’re a High flying Team

We wear the emblem for me and for you

It’s the emblem of the Team we love

The good old maroon and the blue

Hear our supporters roar

Every time that we score

And it gives them all a thrill

Don’t let the effort be forgot

We are the boys from Beverley Hills

Roos just basically said it was a team effort and the boys can see what reward they get when they play their roles. (am paraphrasing)

Said Jones was great and they will probably keep one of either Frawley or Dunny as a forward. Was really happy with Frawley and his output. Also commented on how good Dunn was too.

He looked quiet happy with himself and said they still had a long way to go.

Spoke about how Dawes contacted him during the week to play which we have heard before. Said he was happy for Dawes to just stand there and structure us up a bit but we all know he did far more than that which was pleasing. Was also very pleasing to Roos.

Was good reward for the members, coaches (for all their hard work) and for supporters.

Roos also said he was getting messages and emails from supporters etc. encouraging him and offering support during the last few weeks

As always was great to hear him speak.

Him and Bomber got on like an old married couple too. Great viewing.

I think Roos and MFC supporters are seeing some daylight at the end of a long and dark tunnel.. While we lost the first few games we were far more competitive than we were last year. The absence of all of our tall forwards obviously hurt our scoring ability. We still have quite a few good players to return and the team as a whole are trying to come to terms with the Roos game plan and style as well as having rucks and new mid field get to know each others style and learn to read each others movements a lot better. Once we settle we will be a far better team, still a long way to go, but far better than the last few years.

As for getting more priority picks, I would rather see the guys win more games so that we dont get it, as the wins mean more to all players than us getting one more 'potential' high draft junior.

Roos said he hoped we could see the progress etc. by Round 5. IMO the saints game was there to win but no big forward ( Fitzpatrick off at 1/2 time and key defender Tom McDonald on one leg gave Reiwoldt a free ride that night otherwise that should have been a win.. West Coast was bad, GWS better and now last weekend.

Absolutely we have improved our effort which was evident in round one. WCE game was an unfriendly reminder!

I think and hope there will be a sufficient turnover of players at years end, it's time to let go of some poor disposers that would not get a game at the top clubs and upgrade with some classy competitors. Consistently poor kicks put instant unwanted pressure on team mates which has been evident for a few years.

I reckon the MFC should try and ban Roos from AFL360 or at least restrict some of the technical things he is saying.. He talks more sense and reason than anyone (as close to footy IP as you can get) and it is just handing over ideas to dumb opposition coaches everywhere.

I get the feeling Roos still wants his finger in the media pie. While it may be good for supporters (but we have Roo's views anyway) - Don't see Malthouse, Clarko or Lyon being offering up such free advice.

Doesn't concern me if he is on it at all, everyone knows the swans game plan, that's irrelevant, the great leigh mathews once said you can tell your opposition the game plan, if you play it well enough and it's good enough you will still win

He gives absolutely nothing of importance, he is no dummy.

You've got to be joking. Great viewing, good exposure and keeps Roos involved with the media. We are not in a position to dictate to Roos - if we did he'd be off like a rocket and rightfully so.

I really like the way Roos is using the press conf, interviews, AFL 360 etc to subtley put doubt in the next week coach's mind eg:

- After round 2 said he would move players around a bit

- After round 3 the published team had Dunn, Frawley back and Howe forward but they lined up in reverse

- After round 4 he said both Dunn and Frawley can't stay forward but will wait and see

This has opp coach guessing with their match-ups till the last minute. Won't win us a game but I really like that the other coach has something extra to think about. Subtle and very, very smart

He is using the media to the team's advantage so go Roosy!!

We are in a very different position. Roos is doing our PR, giving us a voice and an importance we could never get since Daniher. Get used to it. Roosy will make us credible with the wider football public again, even feared - how good would that be???? Edited by Dees2014

nah, don't worry dude, he's not telling info that the other head coaches don't already know.

If other coaches are watching AFL360 as a serious part of their tactic to knock of the dees then they shouldn't be coaching.

This week will show how much we have improved.

This game has turned in to one of our most important for the year.

Yes it has, if we can win this we have the Swans the following week at the G and they are not travelling all that well so a win is not beyond the realms of possibility.

If we could win 3 games in a row our membership would go through the roof.

Agree, Robbie. It's just not gonna happen though, unless we absolutely play out of our skins on Sunday.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
