Remember the 5 goals and 29 touches against ninthmond best individual game i had seen by a Melbourne player in some time.

Remember the shirtfront he coped in a preseason game at Casey. Couldn't believe that guy wasn't suspended.

He was always a favourite even though he made me very angry most of the time.

The romantic in me wanted him to stay and succeed.

The cynic in me knew there was never ever any other way.

This just makes me sad. A gifted, talented footballer recruited by a weak club that only assisted his weak mental approach to elite football. I loved him at his best and was glad he was at the Dees right up until his last 18 months.

Wow pick 3 sand never lived up to it.A wasted talent and its a shame he could not be motivated enough at freo to be fit because he has wasted his chance playing finals. I thought he would do this. Pull the pin and still get money without having to get fit and play.

Interesting to see this in the article.

the club was understood to have been unimpressed with his attitude and lack of dedication to training virtually ever since he walked in the door

Then I read this article and obviously Ross doesnt have time for people who arent going to put in and he obviously didnt speak to him. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-04-27/i-have-limited-contact?utm_medium=RSS

Thanks Col for leaving so we could get Bernie. Bernie has been more of a help in 1 and a bit seasons than you were for you whole career with us. May be harsh but Bernard just puts in every week.

A waste of talent and I hope he has a back up career at the gar of 29.

Colin was a great bloke at club functions, corporate events and kids footy clinics. His talent was apparent. His work ethic and common sense was lacking. We all hoped he would mature.

A great waste of talent.

I agree... now Colin please sire 4-5 boys for the MFC for 2033 and beyond.

He was always going to be sink or swim at Freo. He had such an easier ride at Melbourne where he was considered a gun but going to a team where he was expected to perform to a higher standard obviously was too much for him.

It's a shame, I have heard his TAC u18 coach say he is one of the most talented player he's seen through the years. It was clearly there but something else was lacking.

He represents the poor drafting & crap culture/development which occurred @ the club from mid 2000s to 2013... As we all aware of the failed early picks...

I wonder a player of his talent would have performed under Roos regime????

He wasn't a poor draft pick. His talent warranted pick 3, but nobody can predict how a 17/18 yo will mature under the pressure cooker of AFL football. Even the powerhouse clubs like Geelong, Hawthorn and Collingwwod had failed early picks during this period, so the development argument is debatable. His best was close to elite, but his lack of aptitude is of his own doing.

He was a favourite of mine, but he never wanted to work hard enough. Sad.

I thought the night clubs would be rejoicing. Now he can give them his undivided attention 7 days a week and spend up all his severance pay. I would not be surprised though if come around September he and Ben Cousins get arrested for trying to hijack a Whiteman Park ex Melbourne W class tram to get to the MCG.

I love that this has blown up in Fremantle's face.

They thought - 'oh, Melbourne couldn't develop a chia pet, we will make him a star...'

Yeah, nah.

we all knew itd end bad for them !!! aaaaaaarrrgghhh lol

It surprising how so many people always believe its green on the other side of the fence.

It could have stayed at the MFC on similar money and actually played AFL games.

Him going to Freo was one of those things where I really became indifferent about him as an AFL player but was extremely interested to see what would happen to him landing on a list like that.

I'm surprised it played out as negatively as it did and I really have to credit how well the people handling contracts at the club are doing.

There's not much to fault (if anything) as far as list changes are concerned since Jackson, Roos and co. signed on.

Col played to his ability, not the best trainer or most dedicated player going around but such is life.

I don't go with all this unfulfilled talent rubbish. He did what he did and his record speaks for him.

Physique , strength , skill - he had it all. All of us can remember Cole's great moments - some of them Ablett like.

However, it seems the di c k head card overcomes all. Like the "Joker" in Euchre .

euchre? is that a suburb of romsey, bbo?

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
