Emma Quale I believe said the other day that we were into Kade Kolodjashnij....he would be one player in line for pick 9

I stand to be corrected but Dom went to Trinity Grammar in Kew and the whole family are Demon Supporters.

If so that has to be a real plus+++

Thought they were Richmond?

Obviously any player's highlight reel will make them look good but gee Tyson looks a smooth mover, taking into account these are AFL level highlights too, not tac cup. Slides through traffic, has time and uses it well. Looks to have a hard edge as well. Kicking action and execution much like Hodge IMO.

Thrilled with this.

Has David Myers passed on us? If not, how do we get him? 190cm+ and kicks goals from everywhere.

Jeremy Howe is going to be a talent without a role soon I suspect. Can he become the tall midfielder?

If he doesn't become a tall mid - he is going to have to learn to play forward both tall AND small with the timber we have up there now.

I'm hoping Roos can turn him into a Ryan O'keefe MkII

Do not forget Watts is going into the Mid field as a tall midfielder as well

This is a significant win for the MFC.

Dom Tyson is a midfielder in the new mould with a bit of height on him, plays inside and disposes the ball a hell of a lot better than most of our list.

Whilst Kelly is a very good pick 2, in a draft where midfield talent is pretty equal, pick 9 is a good acquisition.

I feel that there is a vfl player that melbourne are interested in and that pick 50 is where we will be going with this, not sure but just the feeling i have

Tyson has star written all over him.

Adams is a battler who will never really impact games. Good accumulator thats about it.

I disagree.

Carlton paid about the same price in the draft for Chris Judd in 2007 who was the best player in the comp. I understand that we get pick 9 as a sweetener but its still a big punt on an unproven kid. I was hoping if we were to trade pick 2 it would be on a proven midfielder at the least. I'm not araldited to my position and will happily eat humble pie if Tyson and pick 9 prove to be amazeballs - however I'm skeptical at this stage.

Howe should've learnt to be better at ground level by now anyway. We've tried playing him on the wing and it just doesn't suit him. I'm ok with having him stay in the fwd fifty and create another marking option. Two/three best defenders go to Hogan, Dawes and Clarke... Howe can have a field day.

Wouldn't mind a small forward coming in to the mix somewhere. Blease needs to use that opportunity imo.

In our parlous state and with FA looming over our heads it is more important to make some immediate progress in 2014 than wait for a pick 2 to develop or hope that some other club will lose its mind and give us an established mid so they can take a novice at pick 2.

I don't see much point in comparing it to past trades like Judd - situations change. I'm pretty ignorant in these matters, but it sounds wise to me.

I think the most important thing to discuss is what is his nickname going to be?

Iron Mike?

The Dominator

I have just heard a rumour from a mate closely connected to another afl club (he has a 60% track record of being right over the last 15 years) that Dom Tyson, this week's rising ster nominee, wants to come to the MFC to join former teammate JV.

Good get AD!

You can't just write off pick 9.

Carlton gave up 3, 20 and Kennedy, and got Judd. They lost a first round and second round pick, plus a player.

We gave up 2 and 20, and got Tyson and 9. We lost only a second round pick (still have a first round pick, and didn't lose any players).

Completely different.

i agree in as much as every year is a year unto itself. its values are intrinsic to the draft and current state of things.

We do and indeed have to do what suits us, not anyone else's idea of that.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
