Neeld in particular, but Bailey also, burnt some good players through neglectful management and poor player development. Which ones would we like back (assuming for market prices)? I suspect some would be delighted to be part of a successful demons era

Who are Dale Morton and Brett Maloney???

I'm not sure they ever played for us

Edit: Changed the spelling and still couldn't get it right

You need a none of the above option (taking into account that Scott Thompson wanted to go home years ago, was not burnt by Bailey and would be unlikely to have interest in returning now).

That Dale Morton chappie sounds interesting though.

None.

We were the worst team of the last half a decade for a reason. Not always them, but mostly.

Gimme a broom rather than them.

Posted

none of them

We are now a professionally run organization, and bringing back old players is pointless especially spuds like the ones you listed

I only voted for Petterd on the basis of his game yesterday. With us he was always injured, inconsistent and was reputed to have had some attitude problems. Liked the way he played for Richmond yesterday though. Good effort!

i know he walked out of us, but surely we'd all want Scully back?

it's just a hypothetical not reality

I think if we're being honest with ourselves, the only players on that list who would not make our team immediately would be Cale Morton and perhaps Ricky Petterd. If those others were the only players we could get, then we'd try to get all of them.

But lucky for us there's about seven hundred other players to pick from, all of whom would be free of the baggage of having played for Melbourne before. So, none would be my answer.

Liam Jurrah. Please.

Let Roos and Ling loose on Jurrah, Watts, Sylvia, Garland, Trengove, the whole lot of them - respect and know-how will bring belief, and belief will upend the MFC. First assemble the cast, then press GO! And there is no icing in the land that would match a Jurrah in full flight. Bring it on!

Lol all Jurrah talks about on facebook is going driving and drinking everyday! The guy is a headcase

Epic Fail!

Not really giving us some good options there...

I almost 'donkey' voted until I noticed there was a 'none of the above' option...

Why do we have to bring them back?

Is there a pool of players that we have to recruit - the ones that already played for us?

Or do we feel guilty for having a coach that told them things they didn't want to hear?

What do you think Roos would say to Beamer if he were still here?

'You are a frontrunning finger pointer who needs to work on your defensive intent.'

Neeld came in too hot and too heavy but he knows footy. He just had the emotional intelligence of a mortician.

Oh, and I will take Thompson back for a couple of years. But he left under Daniher.

Seriously, when we cut Petterd I maintained that he would be the only one I thought we could be hurt by if he was able to stay on the park.

Who is Brent Maloney?
FFS how many times does this need to be pointed out to people?

I voted none of the above, we need to look forward not backwards...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
