Here it is. Admitted it on On the Couch.

Surely there can be no doubt he will get banned. Its like a swimmer or cyclist saying 'I didn't know what my coach was giving me'. WADA has banned everyone to my knowledge who is in the same position. And the fact he signed a consent form probably makes it worse.

And he won't be the only one at Bummerland either......

Even if he thought he was allowed to take it, this should be a two year ban. Once again, look at Wade Lees.

Lees said ignorance was no excuse with ASADA, which was out to slug players with lengthy bans regardless of their innocence.

I'd say that given the way they handled Lees they will hit Watson pretty hard here. He's admitting that he knew what he was taking. It doesn't matter that he didn't know it was banned. This puts him in a worse category than Lees who imported a banned substance on the advice of the club doctor but never got to take it.

Wade Lees can miss 2 years of football. The AFL can't survive at the same level without Essendon or without Essendon's best 22 for

It's sad but it will get handled different.

And lets be honest it's some what fair. Do we really believe in a strict ruling that completely screws a club and the comp when they were completely misled by a rogue force in Dank?

This is why ASADA and WADA are in no way affiliated with a sporting body. They don't care if they damage the brand of the AFL or the EFC. They will stick to their rules and regulations regardless. The AFL may well try to influence them to not punish the players, but when Watson comes out and admits he knew what he was taking he's doing nobody any favours. With the precedents they have already set and the fact that they tend to go harder at bigger targets, I think they are going to shock us all with how harsh they can be.

It's a remarkable admission on the surface of it, in particular how relaxed he was about the whole thing. Talking about the unnatural amount of injections that were being administered and admitting to a banned substance in such a matter of fact way, yet adamant he'd done nothing wrong. He surely would've been under clear direction from the club on what to disclose. All has to come out eventually I guess.

I can't see Jobe admitting this without some sort of advice that it is ok to admit he took the drug. I'm very skeptical about this whole investigation and can see them getting off.

Yes.

We were given a strict ruling because the AFL believed we were harbouring a rogue comedian in Chris Connolly.........

I don't know who advised Watson to speak in this way in public but, if it was planned and calculated (and it surely must have been) then woe betide the AFL and the Essendon Football Club if it's a ploy that misfires.

Watson has admitted to taking a substance banned under WADA rules. There seems to me to be no way, on the face of it, that he shouldn't be charged and stood down from playing until a decision is made on his future. The positions of a number of others involved at Essendon have to be looked at as well and the AFL might well be forced to take over the running of a second club.

Unless, of course, a deal's been done in the back rooms.

And if that's the case then the integrity of our game is in tatters but we already knew that.

Essendon are a bunch of druggie cheats. Suffer you pack of moronic fools. Who will be next to own up? Watson's admission is no surprise to me. Some of their team management are yet to be punished.........................but will be!

Interesting 'Jack', he's not likely to have just come out with the comments without some pretty solid advice and coaching.

He'll get sympathy for the open submission -- as is the case in good ol' apologist Australia -- and he'll get a reduced sentence.

Should lose his Brownlow, no doubt. It's an indictment on the award, whether he knew it was illegal or not.

Apparently no charges or findings will be released until August. I think that on the back of an admission like this, Watson has to be suspended indefinitely and stripped of his Brownlow. I suspect, however, that he will be allowed to play on and will win his second Brownlow in as many years.

Steven Milne is stood down based on police charges.

Ben Cousins is deregistered based on behaviour not positive tests.

Jobe Watson admits taking a banned substance. His registration should be suspended immediately.

Going going gone.

Does Essendon put up the players wanted sign now or at seasons end.

And I though the MFC was in trouble, WOW what damage can dad leadership do to a Club.

Only real question I have is since the Essendon FC is full of drug cheats does this mean the MFC actual won round two this year?

how the hell does he still think it was ok to take?

if it isn't on the OK list its banned. simple.

if he was a cyclist his whole team would be withdrawn.

sad part is that I can see all those Essendon players getting 6 months (from mid sept to mid march)

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
