He Has gone under the radar but was i was really disappointed in him saturday night. Avoided the contest constantly and just seemed to have no idea how to defend.

We desperately need pace, but cannot seem to develop our few fast runners into footballers.

He looks over his injury problems but it's frustrating when again we drop a high draft pick as he cannot get the pill.

The bloke has the attributes of a young akermanis yet we can't develop basic football skills into these blokes. Very frustrating as he would thrive with good development i feel.

Thoughts?

Yeah, or he did his ankle four weeks from the season and needed to play some good footy at Casey before he was thrown back into the AFL.

Neeld may go, and he may go before the year is out but he is not the evil all of root cause.

players like blease develop better at stronger clubs. he will get there have some faith. btw ratten was said to have been the best midfeild coach at this club and young players need a touch more time at a rebuilding team than at a top club with more midfeild power

Another player that mark neeld can not develop.

There is a common theme amongst the club of under performers

Sorry thats crap.

Blease is one player that has improved under Neeld and Craig.

As RPFC said Blease did his ankle and was underdone in terms of match practise. Coming on as the sub in the first game looked ok,.. but everyone at that point of the match is fatigued so the pressure is far less at that point of the match.

Can't run. Will be a bit player at best unless we get our hands on some performance enhancing drugs.

I hope not. I think he can be better than just a bit player (at best).

Name 1 melbourne player getting a kick in the forward line or outside midfield!

Let's get Blease back at Casey, he should be in form early and go from there.

He's a vital player if he can play to his potential.

Posted

Please, please, please let us not let him wither and die at Casey. Yes, he's underdone but blind Freddy could tell you he should be sub.

How is he going to get the requisite tank if he's always the sub?

Last week at Casey seemed to have worked with Tapscott. Question is, can he kick 6.2 today for us int the One's?

We don't have any in form elite leaders at the club to help with development.

Where are the Hodges, Hayes, Abletts, Cotchins, Watsons etc...

We don't have the club at the moment that can attract anyone of that calibre.

It's a Catch 22 ( unlike our 22 that can't catch)

Could not agree more. Blease's form at the end of last year, showed that he is improving.

This kid is yet another being destroyed by Neeld and his total lack of being able to adjust his style and coaching for individuals.

Just tell this kid he's got 10 straight games and tell him to just play his natural game. Let him take it on, use his pace, break the lines & take shots for goal 60m out on the run. Give the kid confidence and stop stuffing with his head.

Everyone's been sucked into Neeld's obsession of physical conditioning and training standards and lost focus on game day and kicking bloody goals.

Why is it that our first year players come out and tease us with great potential and then never seem to do anything after? I remember Blease had a period last year/or the year before where he was gathering a high number of possessions and really using his speed. As we all know he is not the only one the list goes on - Trengove, Gysberts, Morton, Tynan, Evans and of course he who shall not be named (no longer our problem)

Sam Bleese avoided a contest?

STOP THE PRESSES!

Neil Craig on MMM just expressed massive confidence in him, is 100% convinced he needs he will become a quality AFL footballer. Sounds like Sammy is just not yet comfortable/adjusted to being an AFL level football, needs consistency.

Has he improved ? He can't get a game in the worst team in the comp. and it's not an excuse he is outside. No player should be purely outside. He was more pathetic than watts. He once had a decent 4 or 5 weeks last year but still doesn't do the hard stuff. Zaharakis coming back from a long lay off is way ahead.

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Tynan has played 1 or 2 games? that's hardly fair to judge him so harshly.... and Evans is playing the best footy of his career right now..

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
