Search for a new CEO!

BIG JIM

Recommended Posts

The MFC stands in a oerilious position, a whisker away from going the way of Fitzry.

Our next CEO must be a proven leader, vastly experienced with runs on the board. This appointment has to be a home run. THere is no room for error or its all over for this club.

But who will it be?

I am hoping that somehow, someway we can pry Brian Cook from the Geelong with the help of Vlad and a wad of cash.

Yes. It is. We need the Best CEO in the game.

I hope the AFL are in agreement.

We have taken second place for way too long.

If the AFL wish the MFC to be viable they will make it happen.

I agree with you wyl

but there is one big problem.

Why on earth would he want to leave Geelong to come to the MFC?

Would have Cook in a heart beat but he just resigned with Geelong.

He's also overseas on study leave at the moment, is proven as the best football administrator in the business but not likely to leave Geelong now after committing to the Cat's following the bid from North.

We do have to ask the question though.

I hope the process will be thorough and include at least one non-MFC person on the selection panel to ensure a level of dispassionate involvement. The new CEO doesn't necessarily have to be someone with AFL experience, although I would have thought some experience would be preferable. I'd be looking at someone with good commercial, people management and negotiation skills before I worried about their AFL knowledge.

I'd also be engaging a professional executive search firm to assist.

And I don't want this decision rushed.

Judging by the comments of his brother, I'd be surprised if Greg Healy is in the running - already has his hands full as a senior executive at Quicksilver.

What about former MFC board member and television boss Ian Johnson? There may be some antipathy towards him for backing the merger, but he certainly has runs on the board in a cut-throat industry.

We can attempt to get the AFL to campaign for Brian Cook but I don't see it happening.

We need to look at whoever is number 2 at Geelong/Hawthorn/West Coast/Sydney.

Even a club like Richmond have made terrific strides in the last few years and I don't think Brendan Gale has done it all by himself. Someone at a less successful club could actually have more understanding of our challenges.

No more big names from strange places. We need people involved in successful football or football related areas with strong commercial backgrounds.

Adrian Anderson is an interesting name and with pull at the AFL office could be handy. Except I doubt he was exactly best mates with Gil McLaughlin who will be running the game pretty soon.

We could even appoint a woman. Geelong's current temporary CEO whilst Cook is away is a woman. That would shake up the boys club image a bit.

The last 2 weeks have been the worst in my 31 years as a MFC member.

The next CEO of the MFC we MUST get right.

The future of the club we love is very much at stake and we MUST NOT get this WRONG.

Adrian Anderson would be perfectthere anyone IMO.

Who do you think it will/should be?

LETS GET THIS RIGHT DEES.

You are right bj. Am sur they have someone in mind. Lineage is good . Jim Stynes would of fit the role. Let me think about it! Greetings from chiangmai

Ok! Thought bout it. Sheedy. He knows more about football than anyone. Obviously would make some extremely unpopular decisions at first but let's face it we need a complete cultural change.

Do you mean Sheedy for CEO? Wouldn't it be better to employ someone who the employees of the club will actually understand?

Not a bad idea Master!!! Who is a high profile MFC woman??????????????????????????????

I know a lot of you will snigger, but maybe we need to become the ladies club of choice! Imagine the determination they would bring to succeed in a male dominated industry. I honestly think it could work, but has to be the right woman and I dont know of a high profile lady MFC identity who fits this bill.

Imagine if we got the highest female membership base, there is a lot of power there ready to be tapped. What better time to start when the blokes who have run it presently couldnt have brought the club any further to its knees than right now.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
