Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

GAMEDAY - Preliminary Final vs Eagles

Seems ridiculous to even say it but MASSIVE game now. Collingwood done us a favour, was worried about Richmond, no need to worry anymore.

First things first though, bring the ball to ground in our defensive 50, contested possession and switch to Petracca. Melksham and McDonald running back into goal, simple...

My father and older brother are coming over to watch the game at my house. Youngest one is there.

My brother and I have a bet, if we lose, I have to watch a horror movie of his choice with him (I’m terrified of horror movies.) If we win, he takes me to Richard Marx. So, I really REALLY want to win.

I have no idea what to expect really. I went into both previous finals thinking we would fight hard but struggle to overcome the opposition's experience. After watching our resolve thus far, I can't help but feel confident about tomorrow's outcome, despite the odds stacked against us.

There's been a recurring theme of storytelling trilogies since Goodwin took charge, culminating in the last two weeks. After two heartbreaking losses against the Cats this year, we overcame them on our third attempt when it mattered most. After two losses against his old team since joining the Dees, Lewis finally beat them on his third attempt. If we win today, it marks our third consecutive win against the Eagles in Perth after 9 consecutive losses. It would mark our third consecutive finals win for the first time in 18 years.

I know the fairytale endings don't always come true, but I'll be sending the team every ounce of positive energy I can tomorrow. So good luck, Demons. All we ask is you give it everything you've got; that'll be enough for this Dees supporter.

Are you talking about two matches here?? Glad to see that you are confident about tomorrow’s Grand Final with Bayley BOG! ?

I need another pill to calm me down
I feel a bit nervous

I feel a bit fragile

Got the right day but I got the wrong week

Strangely still supremely confident we'll eventually run out winners by 18.

First one bird...then another ;)

The AFL would be salivating at the prospect of a Collingwood v Melbourne Grand Final. The first showdown between both clubs in a Grand Final since Melbourne's last premiership 5 decades ago! Nothing would be more fitting.

There's such rich history between the clubs (both as rivals and of themselves) and fantastic stories across the entire ground. The two best rucks all year going head to head. Howe playing against his first team. Weideman playing against his heritage.

It would also be the first all-Victorian Grand Final in 7 years and only the 5th time that's happened since our last Grand Final appearance.

Alas, all the dreaming is for nought if we can't get the job done today. The Demons have their destiny in their hands, it's up to them now.

So true Saber, the city of Melbourne will be pumping with a Melb/Coll Grand Final, and everyone that doesn't go for Coll will be supporting the Dees, a bit like the Dogs two years ago.

I don't know why but I think the stars will align to make this happen, super proud we have got this far with either result today, but I'm liking this winning feeling.

How can you not be nervous this is unchartered territory for most Dees supporters. However removing the blinkers the Dees can win this for three main reason. 1. Gawn v Lycett what more need to be said; 2. Midfield depth Viney; Brayshaw; Harmes; Petracca; Jones; et al versus Yeo Redden Sheed Shuey 3. Team Depth on bench Petracca; Tyson; Spargo; Smith v Ryan, Dugan, Venables; Vardy.

As Pies showed last night the Dees are finals hardened if they believe they have the talent to win. Weagles played a bottom four side a month ago in the Lions and have played one game since. I think this give the Dees a massive intensity advantage. We need to hit them hard early and take the noise factor out. Everyone talk about the benefit of the crowd but it can have the reverse impact if your losing as tension and stress build. I am confident that we have the team to win this and their forward advantage is not as big as our midfield advantage.

In finals campaign past we have exhausted ourselves getting there or have been an inferior team. This is not the case this time and why I am hugely confident that if we give our best we WILL win.

Problem is with Collingwood, even if we win, the media will be all over them. It will be the grand final Collingwood lost.

Look at 2002. Hardly any photos of Brisbane’s victory. Just pages and pages of Malthouse and Buckley in tears.

I don't think so Cassie. If we do get through we'll have the rest of Australia supporting us next week; would be of epic proportions.

My mind is addled with the collective thoughts and views of Demonlanders and the football media rotating like a whirlwind.  Nervous tension, excitement, confidence, concern, bloody hell! ..........  I've decided that a long walk is a safer option than the chainsaw and wood splitting that I had planned to fill the next 5 to 6 hours.

Good luck fellow Demonlanders.  Enjoy the game!

Goes without saying that we mustn't get blown out early...if we can be within striking distance at half time our contested ability may wear them down at the pointy end.

Huge test for our tall defenders. Would be a very nice day to have Lever but what can you do.

80 tackles and we play in a Grand Final.

It’s going to be a long morning and afternoon waiting. Tough to repeat  back to back wins over there. Worried about lack of outside run, we have to max out the pressure for a 100 minutes.

Already done back to back, we need back to back to back!

Interesting, watching and listening to Richard Marx is like watching a horror movie! ?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
