Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our supporter stereotype

How the lexicon of football evolves. In 1964 we would scream "C'arn the demons" or shortened to "C'arn the dees" or even "C'arn Melbourne". C'arn was the contraction of the expression "come on" and everyone "barracked" for a team.

These days people "go" for a team as in "I go for Melbourne". Go dees is the contraction of that. In the end, it doesn't matter so long as we can share the delight in our team's performance with anyone in red and blue.

Go dees. C'arn the demons. And to stick it up the nitwit commentators, let's show  'em our class with a resounding "come on Melbourne".

Go dees.

Wondering how people feel about the constant barrage we get from the media here. . Constant joking about the clothes we're wearing, the holidays we take, the snow, the cars. Even when we're  winning finals and our supporter base is CLEARLY as fired up and passionate as any in the league its STILL coming.

Personally it always hurts me a little. The feeling behind the ribbing  is that none of us care and Im sick of it.   I get we're stuck with it, but the sense that melbourne supporters are spoilt tossers doesnt sit well well with me nor ever has. As as far as I know it we have suffered more than the average supporter.....and the fire burns in us every bit as deeply,  if not deeper than the average supporter. fitzroy excluded.

Maybe other people don't mind it as much as I do?

Yeh!  and so what! Don't worry what the nuff nuffs are saying . However  it is more stressful when  we are not winning.

if and when we win a Premiership  we will take the Cup to the snow with us .and celebrate with all the  other Dee supporters.

Make up for lost time.

Well I just bought a Land Rover and I'm partial to a nice camembert. I was at the game in Friday and I thought no. 4 was a good contributor. Hassa Mann was quiet though. Rarely sighted.

Really, are there even Melbourne FC supporter stereotypes ?

Surely a brie is better

Jealousy is a curse. Let them be jealous that we are educated and rich. It could be much worse.

Also if anyone is selling a Melbourne cheese board, I’m buying! ?

As I told Karuthers yesterday as he was shampooing the carpet of my rover, civilised society must be preserved.

We may be lampooned as Hermitrage drinking, pate eating, downhill skiing and stockbroker winking  supporters but so what.

Look at our passion of late.

When the camera zoomed over the crowd at both finals we played this year I saw a wonderful collection of decent people.

A shout out to the guy wearing the turban in the cheersquad.

Not to worry ... imagine what you get if you're  a Collingwood supporter ?

Very true.  The worst thing about being talked about -  is NOT being talked about  (Oscar Wilde)

I joke with Pies friends about their lack of teeth. And am proud that I like skiiing.(but a working class boy also)

Its all good fun in the end.

As you're smashing fresh pow at Golden Point or smashing up Mont Ventoux or snorkelling with turtles at Molokini, take zero time to GAF about them. Jealousy is a curse.

Pardon me, my Maserati needs a wash. I need to find one of my workers to clean it pronto before I head to Victoria for a quick 18 holes to clear my head.

I went skiing once, fell over immediately and split my waterproof pants. They proceeded to fill with snow every subsequent time I fell over (approx. every 43 seconds for the next five hours). I couldn't even give up and get on the p!ss as I was the sucker driving the hired mini-bus. Never again!

I do have an Austin-Healey in the garage though...that's a plus for stereotyping. Pip-pip!

Well I'd be more than happy to be seen as a stereotypical Melbourne supporter, but sadly, I can't afford a Range Rover.  Instead I drive around the suburbs in my old Pajero, with 300,000+  clicks on the clock, that's held together by hundreds of (mostly 'dog-eared' and faded) MFC stickers.  Does this count?

The Range Rover thing came about when they were the only 'comfortable' 4WD's on the road (the other being an army style jeep) and were called Toorak Tractors. Nowdays, every third car on the road is a 4WD.

The Snow thing came about because of the Couldabeen's.

The snob thing was MCC member related, and there probably are some,  but the irony is membership is open to anyone.

Cheeseboards are fairly recent and was a deliberate p155 take by the media to suit our perceived style.

I don't really care. Better to have a stereotype than not have one.

The only stereotype I detest is when the commentators constantly refer to us as 'The Dee's' rather than 'The Demons'.  It gets my backup as they always put the 'toffy' accented pronunciation on it.

I know we use the 'Dee's' phrase in screaming 'Go Dees' etc, but other than for that reason, they should be using 'The Demons'.

If they're going to abbreviate teams nicknames, then I want them to refer to Hawthorn as 'The Haws', just like The Demons treated them on Friday night!

Back in the 90's - can't remember exactly when - we beat the Pies at the 'G by 8 points.  As I was leaving the ground, there were a bunch of drunk filth thugs giving it a bloke driving out of the car park in a Range Rover.  It wasn't until one them pulled rest up and said "Ang on, ave a look at the sticker on 'is car",  It was a Collingwood sticker.  Absolute gold it was at the time.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
