Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

6.Oliver wasn't as clean as usual but gave his all for 4 quarters and one who tackled

5. Salem like Clarrie had a crack and used it well  (one of a few)

4. Jones was given a job and did it

3. Omac did a decent job on Roughie who got a couple late

2. Gawn won the contest with [censored] boy and was let down by our poor handling at the drop of the ball

1. Hogan we were that bad after the first quarter Im going that far back was dominant early

6 Oliver- easily our best with 30 touches and 10 tackles.  Didnt quite dominate but tough when you are Pat Malone.

5 Jones - sacrificed his own game and did a solid job on Mitchell. Still got some of it.

4 OMac - our best defender, rarely beaten.  His attacking thrusts didn't use the best option.

3 Hogan - 24 touches and a goal as a forward in a team that was beaten. Should have been used on the ball.

2 Salem - Great disposal at times, tried hard, not many other options.

1 Kent - Raffle this point. At least Kent had a good first quarter with 3 goals before he disappeared. Gawn won hit outs but we didn't get an advantage and he missed the goal the started the rot. ANB did some nice things. Brayshaw had great endeavour and will better for the run.

6. Oliver - we are pinning our future on this boy. We might need someone to help him.

5. Salem - all starting to click. His pressure around the ball is outstanding. Building something here.

4. Gawn - McEvoy is no longer in consideration for All Australian.

3. McDonald - he is starting to look really important. Wonder how much of this is development / having Lever there.

2. Hogan - I just don’t know if I’d prefer his 25+ touches or him to stay deep and kick goals.

1. Jones - he beat Mitchell but highlighted the class diffenence between the 2.

6 - Hogan (How is a full forward, our second highest possession getter?)

5 - O.Mc (Worked Roughy well)

4 - Kent (His early game gets him here)

3 - Oliver (Good, but definitely can be better).

2 - Fritsch (Didn't get a lot, but didn't stop having a crack at the hard stuff).

1 - Neil-Bullen (One of the few to not stop running, covered a lot of ground).

That was a hard one.

Too many 6/10 footballers who rarely figure in these votes. Top sides don’t have too many 6/10 footballers.

Calmed down just enough to give this a bash

6. Oliver - Just your standard Oliver game. 11 tackles showed that he was one of the few to continuously hit the Hawks hard.

5. OMac - Who would've thought that with the likes of Jetta, Hibberd and now Lever in our backline, we'd be saying that Oscar has been our best defender so far in 2018?

4. Gawn - Set a club record for most hit outs in a game with 66. Massive effort. Its just a shame that Hawthorn read his taps better than the players who trained with him all pre-season.

3. Hogan - Was everywhere in the first quarter with 12 touches and a goal.

2. Jones - By no means a massive game statistically but was able to shut down Mitchell for most of the match.

1. Kent - Played the quarter of his life before fading into near obscurity. Still encouraging signs though.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
