Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesse Hogan re-signs to end of Season 2019

People need to stop worrying about what he isn't and focus on what he is. You want to see a world where Hogan isn't in the red and blue, look at our game against Freo. All at sea with no focal point. He is the anchor of our forward line and is going through a rough patch but he's only played 2 seasons and 3 games. His best is match winner material.

Supporyets really need to stop looking at him and wishing he was Jonathon Brown or Wayne Carey and support the fact that he's still a developing KPF finding his way in the game.

Stupid comment.  So the fact he went home means he can't also socialise with his mates.

He is a 22 year old kid,  who seems to have a lot going on and having a day out and getting on the beers is not the end of the world.

How the f..k do you know what happened within the club.  Should they have publicly ridiculed him???

It's probably just the way I was brought up I guess. But if my old man was gravely ill and I was given the time to visit him over the other side of the country, the last thing I would want to do is be anywhere other than with him for that short period of time.

And I don't know what has happened at the club, I never alluded to anything like it.

It's just an opinion that you can either take or leave. No need to get nasty.

Lethals view was that Hogan is a stay at home full forward and cant play up the ground.

Which is total nonsense as Hogan is fantastic up the ground and very mobile.

My growing concern is that Lethal had it back-to-front.

I want to think Jesse is the real deal. I do.

As alluded.... Something nqr.

Time will tell.

For some reason it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it all turned on its head.

We aren't privvy obviously ( to what we arent told )

Hope he settles down and fires....hope ;)

TGR is talking dribble. That's not what Leigh Matthews said.

He said he's only going to be a forward that jumps and marks the ball, he'll be no good at ground level. Which is absolute garbage. Probably a quarter of his goals are from ground balls and he's set up numerous others via (often sublime) hands.

TGR also said Naitanui would be the greatest player the game has ever seen and Cotchin will be the best midfielder in the game. LOL

I don't think anybody is writing Jesse off and I hope he stays a Demon for life and kicks a million goals.  However, as a student of human behaviour, I too sense that something is not quite right and my gut tells me he won't be in the red and blue after 2018. I pray to God that I am wrong.

Jesse is a great talent but concern is his development trend seems to have wained and in some cases his traits appear to have regressed. Not unusual for a kid in what is really his third year and with a bit going on. No need for concern yet but he will possibly be the biggest key to how we develop players as to whether he ends up a superstar, a trade and forget or a good player who could have been great.

Its called maturity.... Jack Reivoldt had body language issues also!

Expectations are too high for a 21yo playing his 3rd season!

It is not his body or age H2014 the problem is above the shoulders.

Hogan may seem to work hard when he is playing up the ground but his attack on the ball when playing deep forward is soft. Makes few leads inside 50, poor attempts in contested marking by playing for frees, marginal second efforts and almost certain to miss shots from 30+ metres out. Like he does not want to be in a situation where has to take a medium to long shot at goal. His goal kicking confidence has not improved. He does get scragged a lot in marking situations but if he made more genuine attempts to attack the ball  he may get more frees and umpire respect and defenders will drop that tactic.

Our forward line looks so much better with Jesse than without him: on that basis alone I dunno how anyone can doubt his importance to the side

I agree.

All I am saying is that most of us have overrated him.

Just now, Sir Why You Little said:

RIP to Jesse's Dad

Let's hope the media leave him alone

Good luck with that SWYL.

Time to give the kid the weekend off so he can go to WA to be with his family.

The MFC means nil in this situation.

Agree with the sentiment, and the club has said he won't play this weekend. But a small correction ... his dad died in Melbourne yesterday after watching the Anzac eve game, and the Age reports that the funeral will be held in Adelaide (where he was originally from).

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
